SUCCESS STORY OF AMOLI FAIBI – RAISING FAMILIES (RF) PROJECT
2019–2022 | Friends of Goodwill FoG Denmark & FoG Uganda
Documented by: Otolo Yunus
Amoli Faibi, a 67-year-old resilient woman from Apac District, stands today as one of the greatest success stories of the Raising Families (RF) Project, which supported 50 women in 10 groups between 2019 and 2022. Funded by Friends of Goodwill FoG Denmark and implemented by FoG Uganda, the project empowered vulnerable women through livestock support, kitchen gardening, and income-building skills.
In 2019, Mama Amoli was selected among the first five women in Group 2 to receive two she-goats. With dedication and careful management, the goats multiplied steadily until she had six goats, which she later exchanged for one healthy cow in 2023. Remarkably, she still retained several she-goats, and they continued to multiply—now totaling five goats, with two of them recently giving birth: one to twins and another to a single kid.
Her next ambitious plan is to exchange some of the growing goat herd for another cow between January and February, further expanding her livestock assets and improving her household resilience.
Beyond livestock, Amoli has embraced the horticulture and kitchen gardening training she gained under the RF Project. Today, she maintains a vibrant vegetable garden with eggplants that she harvests and sells daily from home. The income she earns helps her buy essentials like sugar, soap, food items, and supports the treatment and care of her goats and cow.
Mama Amoli’s story is a shining example of how the RF Project has transformed lives. Her hard work, commitment, and wise use of project skills make her a model beneficiary.
Because of her outstanding achievements, the women believe she deserves special recognition and celebration in the presence of all 50 RF women, as well as Apac District and Municipality officials. They recommend that she receive an extra award and be taken to the radio to educate and inspire other women on economic resilience and livestock success.
Mama Amoli is truly one of our best women, a symbol of strength, growth, and hope for many.
