We are the local Greenpeace volunteer group in Odense. The goal of Greenpeace Odense is to spread awareness of important environmental issues, both global, national and local. We wish to engage the people of Odense in caring for our shared environment. As local Greenpeace volunteers, we engage in a broad range of activities. We support international as well as national campaigns by taking to the s
treets of Odense and spreading the important messages in creative ways. We also take on local environmental issues and have among other things hosted many trash pick-ups at different locations in Odense. You will also find us participating at many local festivals and events such as Havnekulturfestivallen and Miljøets Folkemøde. Greenpeace campaigns cover many different environmental issues. Common for all our campaigns is that they are meant to spread awareness of an issue and always include solutions to the problems. Some campaigns we have worked on in recent years include:
- Faces for Forests: A campaign launched to protect the boreal forest, which is being logged to produce things such as toilet paper and disposable cardboard plates.
- Less Meat, More Greens: In this campaign, we focused on the massive Danish pig production, which is a major source of pollution. We both took to the streets to inform the public of this issue, while at the same time petitioning online for public institutions to serve more plant-based food.
- Protect the Oceans: One of our most recent campaigns. Healthy oceans are vital for all life on earth, but aquatic ecosystems are under threat from over-fishing, underwater mining and pollution. In this campaign we have created awareness of the issues the oceans face and collected signatures for a petitions to send to UN representatives, to vote for an ambitios ocean treaty. Do you want to volunteer with us? We would love to have you on the team! Simply message us here on Facebook, send us an e-mail or look out on our page for our next introduction meeting. We value diversity and want everyone to feel safe and welcome in our group.
