🇩🇰 How to Vote in the Local Elections in Denmark — Step by Step
If you live permanently in Denmark and meet the basic eligibility criteria (18+ years old, registered address, and either a Danish/EU/Nordic citizen or a non-EU resident with 4+ years in Denmark), you can vote in the local and regional elections on November 18th, 2025. Here’s how the process works:
📩 1. Your voting card (valgkort)
You should have received your valgkort by post before election day, with info on where and how can you vote.
Didn’t get it? Don’t worry, you can still vote as long as you bring a valid ID!
📍 2. If your valgkort didn’t arrive
Check which polling station is assigned to your address by contacting your municipality or checking their website.
When you arrive to your polling station, they will provide everything necessary for voting.
🗳 3. On election day (November 18th)
Go to your polling station with:
• A valid ID (passport, driver’s licence, sundhedskort (health card))
• Your valgkort (if you received it, to make the process faster)
You’ll get your ballot, select a party or candidate, mark your vote, and place it in the ballot box.
🏙 Why it matters?
Local elections shape daily life, public transport, housing, schools, services, and even your experience as an international resident. Your vote strengthens your community and helps ensure your voice is included.
