Thank you to everyone who came to our Eurovision Finale Watch Party! 🤩🥳🎶

We had so much fun celebrating and embracing the music, culture, and conversations that filled the air from Eurovision and from our participants 🥰 The turnout was excellent, and we were thrilled to have attendees of all ages, backgrounds, languages, and musical preferences coming from across Lolland and the Globe. And it was wonderful to have newcomers who came out of curiosity for meeting new people and experiencing Eurovision!

Congratulations to Bulgaria 🇧🇬 for winning the Eurovision Song Contest 2026! The song, 'Bangaranga,' was performed by Dara, who describes the music as 'pop music with folklore bones.' Both the song and performance were so full of energy, and it is very catchy!

Søren Torpegaard Lund from Denmark 🇩🇰 gave a strong performance of 'Før vi går hjem,' which was extremely well received by the country voting committees, but unfortunately, less so among viewers.

Eurovision is celebrating its 70th year, and in solidarity with the Eurovision slogan, 'United in Music,' we took this opportunity to gather our diverse community on Lolland in the name of music--something that we can all relate to regardless of where we come from. And for anyone who was not familiar with Eurovision, we wanted to share this tradition with them while we all enjoyed a night of fun and 'fællesskab,' and that we did ☺️🤩🥳😍

Even TV2 Øst came by to report on our event, so thank you for your coverage of what we plan to offer as a yearly tradition here on Global Lolland!

We would like to give a HUGE thank you to Ana Cadeniuc for her help in making the Eurovision Watch Party happen! 🥳 💪

And our event would not have been possible without our many volunteers, so THANK YOU ALL for your assistance in setting up and cleaning up the event 🙏🙏🙏

Finally, a special thank you to Lolland Kommune for your support in providing Det Gule Pakhus and refreshments! 🥰

Hope to see you at Global Lolland's Eurovision Watch Party in 2027! And if you have any ideas or want to help us plan next year's Watch Party, please let us know at [email protected] 🥳

🌍 Join our Global Festival
– a bridge-building public gathering that connects cultures

Nakskov Handel & Ehrverv is now launching a Global Festival – a new and ambitious festival project that will strengthen the community among the city's diverse nationalities and make Nakskov and West Lolland even more open, welcoming, and attractive places to live and visit.

In recent years, Nakskov has transformed into a more international city. Citizens from all over the world are today a natural part of our workplaces, schools, and everyday life. It is a strength – and a shared responsibility. Global Festival is a concrete step towards better integration, a stronger community, and an increased sense of belonging for both current and future citizens.

The festival takes place from September 4th to 6th and is an international and inclusive public gathering, open to everyone – regardless of nationality or place of residence. Through culture, food, music, art, education, and community, together we will lay the foundation for dialogue and community-building across the diversity among us.

A core concept of the Global Festival is that the offerings are created from the bottom up. Individuals and groups from different nationalities, associations, schools, and educational institutions are invited to develop their own activities, projects, experiences, and offerings. The organizers will provide the framework, coordination, and marketing – the community creates the substance.

Global Festival is not just a festival. The festival aims to strengthen the sense of belonging among newcomers, enhance our educational offerings, and provide access to labour for our local companies, while positioning Nakskov and West Lolland as a region full of diversity, with a strong sense of community and an international mindset.

👉 Would you like to participate in the festival as a community member, association, school, or partner? Then you are very welcome😊

Feel free to contact Candice ([email protected]) if you would like to know more!

Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to a fun and flavorful afternoon at the Red Cross in Nakskov!

The Ukrainske Klub Nakskov were amazing hosts who opened their hearts to share their culture with us, telling us about their food traditions, showing their handicrafts, and explaining about holiday and wedding traditions. 🇺🇦🥟🥔🪡🧵🕯️🎉🐕🔔🍽️💍🇺🇦

You made us all feel at home with your warmth and generosity of spirit, and your passion for coming together in the Ukrainian tradition of making Varenyky on Sundays, which we all did together on this occasion 🥰

As one of the participants indicated, she has had the weekly tradition of making Ukrainian dumplings her whole life, but those we made this day somehow tasted extra special and more delicious--what a wonderful sentiment and positive feedback about our cultural cooking workshop!

We are so grateful to have our Ukrainian citizens here among us on Lolland and appreciate you opening up your arms and hearts to share your culture with the rest of us! 🙏🏻

Slav Ukraini! 🇺🇦

23/11/2025

If you have not signed up for today’s Ukrainian food workshop, you are still welcome to join us! Meet us at 14.00 at the Red Cross location at Østre Boulevard 1, 4900 Nakskov😊

It is 50 kr. per person to take part and families are welcome.

Cooking and dining together, across cultures, while learning about Ukrainian food and culture promises to be an enjoyable, educational, and meaningful afternoon! 🥟🎶 🇺🇦

Join Global Lolland’s events to explore different cultures, learn more about the world around us, foster and form new friendships, and build a stronger, diverse, and inclusive community through purposeful intercultural activities right here on Lolland! 🇩🇰🌏🌍🌎🇩🇰

Did you know that the degree to which you eat ethnic food can indicate your openness and tolerance of different cultures?

A recent study from the University of Birmingham, the University of Munich, and IAB in Nuremberg focused on this, and it reinforces our aim in Global Lolland to bring the broader Lolland community together through making and enjoying ethnic foods together while truly connecting across cultures!

One of the conclusions was that 'greater enjoyment and frequency of ethnic food consumption were significantly associated with lower perceptions of immigrants as cultural and economic threats and with decreased likelihood of voting for anti-immigrant politicians.'

Findings suggest that 'exposure to ethnic cuisine may serve as a subtle yet meaningful catalyst for direct intergroup contact, capable of reducing hostility towards immigrants.'

The research also indicates that 'Ethnic foods are thus considered a cultural bridge, connecting people from different ethnicities, races, and cultures'.

One final note, according to this study, is that 'repeated exposure to pleasurable ethnic food experiences may foster a sense of familiarity and reduce the psychological distance between ingroup and outgroup members.'

So join Global Lolland's cooking workshops to learn more about cultures and food from around our Global Lolland, those who are born in Denmark and those who have moved here from all corners of the Globe!

We look forward to seeing you and one (or all!) of our events☺️

Ifølge et britisk studie bliver man mere tolerant over for indvandrere jo mere udenlandsk mad, man spiser.
