At the Lillekilde kindergarten in Copenhagen, they really understand the value of acknowledging children. That they grow and become even more capable when the focus is on the positive. Here is a picture of 4 children leaving the kindergarten and who will be going to school next. With them from the kindergarten, they each get a personal photo album, with pictures from their entire time there. Every single child feels that they are important and unique. Notice the graduation caps : ))

Here is a story, we just got from a tutoring group in Denmark yesterday:

"Curious win for this week: I had two students from Lærerseminaret (the Teacher's University) who had flunked their maths exam - this is not just maths, it is also an exam on how to TEACH maths. I gave them a one hour intro lesson going over both how to solve some maths assignments AND how to do it in different ways AND how to teach kids to do it also - with lots of mass and clearing up nomenclature. They were VERY
impressed, one stated when she left "You are SO good!", and she will start getting a weekly lesson from now on until her re-exam in May.

Applied Scholastics Hungary.
Here from APS EU we want to share with all of you, what we all are doing of actions, which might inspire you in your daily work in the field of education.
In APS Hungary they have translated several of the materials created by Christian Aagaard from Denmark. They are VERY pleased with these effective materials. The below pictures are from their latest event, where 2 math books are translated into Hungarian. APS Hungary have themself been very industrious in creating unique materials, which are being sold like hot cakes.

Be a Good Role Model.
You are your child's first teacher of right and wrong. Your children learn a lot about your priorities by watching you. If you smoke, drink, or engage in other destructive behaviors, resolve to make changes in your own life and you'll benefit both yourself and your children.

5.th Tip regarding our children - from Greenfields School in England:
Reward everything good.
In line with the previous points, you cannot go wrong if you reward anything positive that a child does. This can be in the form of small toys, time doing a favourite activity, extra time for playing, an outing and so on. When a child's life is full of rewards, then he or she reaches to do more and try more. If there are few or perhaps no incentives, children can lack motivation and lose interest.
Ideally, you want a child to associate learning and doing the right thing with good things, more fun, more things to play with. Then education itself becomes a joy and you have started a child off on the long road to learning all their lives.

Fourth advice from Greenfields School in UK
WORK WITH WILLINGNESS
Most children are very willing to learn. The trick is to keep the gradient low enough so that they are continually winning. Coupled with that, parents should heap praise on a child whenever he or she gets something right, and correct but make light of anything the child gets wrong. This boosts confidence quickly - and more importantly, keeps a child wanting to keep playing the learning game, which is what you want.

Third advice about children from Greenfields School in England: For young children, education can be virtually continuous. Counting the flowers, spotting the colours, arranging things in the right order, plenty of opportunities arise in daily life for observing and applying basic knowledge. Currently there are many tools available to keep a child entertained while learnning.

A kindergarten in Copenhagen, who is a member of APS, has prepared a traditional Danish Christmas lunch for the children. It is SO cute and at the same time showing a huge respect for the young children. Just like it should be.

Second advice about children from Greenfields School in England:
LET THEM WIN!
On playing games, though, a big word of advice: let the child win!
Life is going to throw various obstacles in a child's way soon enough- what you need with these innocent games is the child winning and wanting to play again next time. Not an upset boy or girl who feels the loss and will soon lose interest in the game altogether. Winning children want to keep on playing!
