OUR APPROACH
We recognise that though communities might have a common issue of low-income status and poverty, their needs may vary. As a result we work directly with the communities to find meaningful and relative solutions to meet their needs. All our projects are focused on creating platforms for people to have a say in the decisions that shape their lives. In effect,
the community decides which projects or initiatives they feel will have a positive impact on their lives. EDUCATION- The "education is key" project designed to inform/educate the local communities each year on the need for education towards the development of the individual and society at large. HEALTH- At THF we believe that health is the foundation to a better life. Periodically, we collaborate with health professionals within and outside communities to bring the proper health resources to the communities that need it most. During this period we educate the community on basic health practices such as personal hygiene, reproductive health care and basic health practices. We also work with them on preventive measures in relation to malaria and teenage pregnancy. SPORTS- Through our partnership with Dallas Texans Football Academy we assist student athletes to secure scholarships for further education. As a result of our fundraising efforts we are able to assist these students financially. In the last three years we have secured more than $800,000 in scholarships for students athletes to further their education and continue to enjoy sports at the same time. FINANCIAL LITERACY- One of the ways we work with the local community to create economic opportunities is to give them financial advice on how to secure loans to start up a business as well as basic management skills. Through our partnership with professionals in the Banking and Finance Industry we are able to offer professional advice to members of the communities where we work. Some of the areas are how to set up SME’s and prioritise spending. FOOD, CLOTHING AND DRIVES- Every year basic needs such as clothes,shoes, food and toiletries are donated to Touching Hearts Foundation through a number of foreign and local partnerships. We group the clothes, wash them and repackage them and send them out to orphanages, schools in designated communities. We also have various giveaways of food and toiletry items to specific communities in which we serve. CULTURAL EXCHANGE VOLUNTEER PROGRAM-

Volunteers have the option of working with boys and girls between the ages of six to eighteen (6-18). Some of the areas volunteers can work in are:
Working as a teaching assistant in a local primary school
Working in an orphanage
Working with children with special needs
Working as an assistant coach in a football team. Working as a waiter or waitress in a local restaurant. Design your own project
Volunteers will have chance to work with Dallas Texans Football Academy at Teshie-Nungua, a suburb of Accra. DTFA works with over 100 girls and boys team who play in the Ga East District local football league. Volunteers will have chance to try out your coaching skills with different teams. As a volunteer you have the option of training both boys or girls aged six to eighteen. Volunteers do not need any coaching experience as you can assist the coaches in the training sessions. If you do have coaching experience or you feel comfortable enough to take training sessions you will have the opportunity to coach your own sessions. INTERNSHIPS ACROSS BOARDERS PROGRAM- As a student you have the opportunity of doing your internship through THF. Students are placed in an organisation related to their current or future course of study. VOLUNTEERING AT A LOCAL SCHOOL
We also have a partnership with local primary schools where volunteers can help as teaching assistants in English, Mathematics, General Science, Social Studies and Physical Education classes. ACCOMMODATION
Volunteers have the option of a home stay where you will stay with a local family. You will have your own or a shared bedroom. You will be served breakfast, lunch and dinner. This is a great way for volunteers to learn of the local culture and also as cuts down the cost of living while in Ghana. Arrangements can be made for volunteers who wish to stay in a hostel or hotel. DURATION
The programs vary based on each group or volunteers preference. The minimum time spent in Ghana is 2 weeks. All projects are designed and suited for the needs of the volunteer.
