Congrats

The V-Dem Democracy Report for 2026 has ranked Denmark at the top of its Liberal Democracy Index, alongside Sweden and Norway.

Denmark secured the top spot thanks to its impressive performance across indicators such as free and fair elections, the rule of law, and strong institutional checks on government power.

Even though Denmark consistently ranks among the world's most well-functioning democracies, its position on the list cannot be taken for granted – especially at a time when several liberal democracies are collapsing and, in many cases, sliding into autocracies on their way down.
