🌏 COME TO LEARN ABOUT CHINA

China has become an increasingly important market for international music. Across live music, alternative genres, and underground culture.

On June 9th, we invite the Danish music industry to join a special event exploring the opportunities, challenges, and realities of working within the Chinese music market.

Across two sessions, participants will gain first-hand insight into different parts of the industry, ranging from publishing and songwriting collaborations to live, youth culture, and underground music scenes.

OPEN CALL: Current - Nordic Festival Talent Exchange!

Currentoffers artists ready for export the opportunity to perform at three of the leading showcase festivals in the Nordics: Iceland Airwaves , SPOT Festival and by:Larm.

In collaboration with Iceland Music, MXD - Music Export Denmark and Music Norway the festivals will select two artists or bands from each participating country. Selected participants will receive a travel grant and a performance fee.

Applications are now open. The deadline to apply is June 2nd.

⚡️ NOMEX x SUMMER BREEZE 2026 ⚡️
NOMEX (the collaboration between the Nordic music export offices including Music Export Denmark) is partnering with Summer Breeze Open Air to present a dedicated trade mission for the Nordic metal & hard rock industry from August 12–15, 2026.

Designed for export-ready metal labels and management teams, the program includes exclusive Q&A sessions and networking opportunities with leading international industry players from companies including Nuclear Blast/Believe, Metal Blade, Century Media, AISA, Clandestine, Rising Empire, and more.

The initiative continues the strong Nordic focus on international metal export, building on initiatives like Mono Goes Metal and When Copenhell Freezes Over.

Current - Nordic Festival Talent Exchange 🤝🏻

Et nyt nordisk initiativ, Nordic Festival Talent Exchange, blev lanceret på SPOT Festival 2026 og markerer det første skridt mod et mere integreret og internationalt nordisk musikmiljø.

Initiativet samler tre af regionens vigtigste showcase-platforme; SPOT Festival (Danmark), Iceland Airwaves (Island) og by:Larm (Norge), samt deres respektive nationale musikorganisationer; Music Export Denmark, Music Norway og Iceland Music, i en fælles mission om at bevæge artister på tværs af disse grænser med større intention og mindre friktion.

“‘Nordic Festival Talent Exchange’ repræsenterer et vigtigt skridt mod et mere sammenhængende og robust nordisk musikøkosystem. Ved at koordinere vores indsats på tværs af landegrænser ønsker vi at styrke både den kunstneriske udvikling og de internationale muligheder for nordiske artister,” udtaler projektpartnerne.

Det etårige pilotprojekt vil omfatte koordinerede showcases på by:Larm (september 2026), Iceland Airwaves (november 2026) og SPOT Festival (maj 2027), samt brancheprogrammer ved hvert stop.

Current - Nordic Festival Talent Exchange 🤝🏻

A new Nordic initiative, Nordic Festival Talent Exchange, was launched at SPOT Festival 2026, marking the first step towards a more integrated and international Nordic music circuit.

The initiative unites three of the region’s most vital showcase platforms; SPOT Festival (Denmark), Iceland Airwaves (Iceland), and by:Larm (Norway), and their respective national music offices; Music Export Denmark, Music Norway and Iceland Music, in a shared mission to move artists across these borders with more intention and less friction.

“Nordic Festival Talent Exchange represents an important step towards a more connected and resilient Nordic music ecosystem. By aligning our efforts across borders, we aim to strengthen both artistic development and international opportunities for Nordic artists,” say the project partners.

The one-year pilot project will include coordinated showcases at by:Larm (September 2026), Iceland Airwaves (November 2026), and SPOT Festival (May 2027), alongside industry programming at each stop.

A new strategy for Nordic music export 🌍

The NOMEX Strategy 2026–2029 sets the framework for continued collaboration between the Nordic music export offices, with a shared ambition to strengthen the international position of Nordic music.

The strategy builds on a strong foundation of cooperation and focuses on how we can support artists and music companies across borders, share knowledge, and create better conditions for international growth.

The strategy focuses on these priorities:
- strengthening the Nordic region’s global position through targeted export efforts
- improving conditions for artists’ international mobility
- expanding Nordic collaboration and knowledge sharing
