Our Goals
Every four years, during an International Board meeting, SI decides on a Programme of Action, known as the Programme Focus. The Programme Focus Objectives serve as guidelines for club actions. The Programme Focus Objectives for 2011-2013 are based on the UN Millennium Development goals a
nd aim to resolve the most important challenges of our society:
• To increase access to formal and non-formal learning opportunities.
• To improve access to economic empowerment and sustainable opportunities for the employment of women.
• To eliminate violence against women and girls and ensure women’s participation in conflict resolution.
• To ensure women and girls have food security and access to the highest attainable standard of health care.
• To address the specific needs of women and girls by improving environmental sustainability, and mitigating effects of climate change and disasters. Local project's in Aarhus:

Soroptimist International is a worldwide service organisation, working to transform the lives of women and girls through education and leadership. Soroptimist International, a worldwide organisation for women in management and the professions, is a global voice for women through Awareness, Advocacy and Action. Our mission is to inspire action and create opportunities to transform the lives of women and girls through a global network of members and international partnerships. From the founding of the first Soroptimist club in 1921 through to the present day where over 3000 clubs are flourishing throughout the world, Soroptimists have continued to strive to achieve the best for women in every sphere of their lives. SI is now approaching 90,000 members in 125 countries/territories. SI’s structure embraces partnerships between the Global North and the Global South, whereby we learn from one another and support one another as we empower women and girls. Soroptimists are women who use the special expertise and management skills developed in their working life to advance the status of women and make the world a better place. Membership offers the opportunity to work with like-minded women throughout the world for human rights for all, equality, development and peace.
