We’re happy to share that Aarhus Historical Fencing Guild collaborated with the University of Aarhus on a recent study on scoring efficiency in historical fencing, led by Dr. Hans Snipesen.
The conclusion is clear:
🔥Snappy hits to the hands, performed from as far a distance as possible, are the most effective technique in the HEMA repertoire.
Key findings:
🫥78% demoralization effect of successful actions that target the fingers.
🦤Exchanges lasting more than 2 seconds are “unnecessary risk”, thus not martial.
🤓Deep target techniques show significantly lower efficiency and, the study continues, are "only for losers and tryhards".
🃏Ringen and other techniques performed up close are for confused MMA fighters and bar brawlers.
Based on this, we’ll begin updating our training. ✋🎯
