Here we are again, heading into another Thursday – and another hyggelig EAI gathering! ❤️

This week, we’ll be talking about Halloween in Denmark 🎃🇩🇰

Here’s what we have planned for Thursday, the 29 of October

📍 Location: Ansgars Kirken, Vesterbro 1a, 9000 Aalborg

🕐 14:45 – Arrival, coffee & tea

Come in, grab a warm drink, and enjoy a cozy moment together before we begin. ☕❤️

🕒 15:00 – Joint teaching

This week, our theme is Halloween in Denmark 🎃

Now that we’ve officially left summer time behind, the colder and rainier days of November are just around the corner. 🍂🌧️

We’ll talk about Halloween in Denmark, how it is celebrated, and some of the traditions connected to this time of year. We’ll also practice useful Danish words such as græskar (pumpkin), udklædning (costume/dressing up), gru og gys (horror and thrills) and kommerciel (commercial). 🎃👻🕸️

It will be a chance to learn new Danish vocabulary, talk about traditions, and discover a little more about everyday life and celebrations in Denmark. 🇩🇰😊

🕒 15:20 – Group teaching sessions

We’ll divide into smaller groups to practice Danish together.

📚 Level 1: Leisure activities & transport (*Fritidsaktiviteter og transport*)

📚 Level 2:Danish practice with Bente

There will be opportunities to practice Danish, have conversations, and learn together at your own level. ❤️

☕ Hygge & Hjælp

As always, there will also be time for some extra Hygge & Hjælp, conversations, and helping each other along the way. ❤️

🏛️ After the Danish lessons – Visit to Gråbrødrekloster Museum

As tradition has it, after our Danish lessons, we’ll visit the Gråbrødrekloster Museum in Algade. 🏛️😊

We’ll explore the underground museum and learn a little more about the history hidden beneath the streets of Aalborg.

Please note that we’ll be heading home after our underground visit. 😊

Hello 👋🏽and welcome back,

Welcome back from the holidays and another fantastic week with Elsk Aalborg International and our must-experience Thursday sessions of free Danish language and culture teachings, with a moment of hygge as dessert for the occasion.

Yup, it's happening again this Thursday 22nd October, 2026 and you certainly shouldn't miss it. Particularly so if you've been living in the city and are looking for a community to spend time with.

With the introduction out of the way, here's some info to tickle your curiosity; our plan for Thursday's session:

🕐 14:45 – Arrival, coffee & tea

Come in, grab a warm drink, and enjoy a cozy moment with the teachers right before lessons begins.

🕒 15:00 – Joint teaching

We will be talking about the Danish health system, how it works and how you can access it when you really need the help. It's simple, but probably very different from what you are used to from your home country. So come join us and get familiar with it.

🕒 15:20 – Group teaching sessions

We’ll divide into smaller groups for Danish language lessons to practice speaking Danish and learning new words and phrases. And this time , we will take a look at words for expressing emotions and moods 😊.

🃏 16:30 – Hygge and fun at Elsk.

We usually have fixed activities for hygge and fun, but for this week, we've decided to let hygge and fun be whatever you choose it to be. Come enjoy the atmosphere and be part of creating the social, fun and hygge we've all come to appreciate.

Come join us. No registration required. Just smiles are enough to get you in 😁. A little smile when getting in (a biiiigggggggg smule is very welcome as well) , and wave us goodbye when leaving.

Uge 42 vil snart blive afløst af uge 43. Og det er jo en ulige uge. Og det betyder MONDAY MORNING. På mandag, den 19.oktober mødes vi fra klokken 9.00 -11.30. Det bliver en dejlig måde at starte op efter efterårsferien.

This week, our theme is Autumn & Autumn Break 🍂

We’ll talk about autumn in Denmark, the changing weather, shorter days, falling leaves, and some of the things people enjoy doing during this season. 🍁🌧️☕

We’ll also talk about Autumn Break (efterårsferie) – the school holiday in October. We’ll explore what people usually do during the break, such as spending time with family, going on small trips, enjoying nature, or simply having some time to relax. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦🍂🚶‍♀️

It will be a chance to learn some useful Danish words and expressions connected to autumn, the weather, holidays, family, and everyday life in Denmark. 🇩🇰😊

We’ll divide into smaller groups to practice Danish together.

📚 Danish practice, conversations & learning together

🍝 16:30– Communal meal

We’ll end the afternoon by sharing a meal together! 😊

Elizabeth from England will make “Macaroni Cheese” for everyone. 🇬🇧🧀🍝

We’ll wrap up another lovely afternoon together and say goodbye until next time. ❤️

So , we'll be snappy with it and keep the details short and simple. Here's the plan for today:

🕒 15:00 – Joint teaching

We have faithfully gone through our teachings on the 'Life through' series over the past weeks, and now we have come to the final part of the series with the topic, 'Pension, old age and death'. This will be the concluding part of this series of lesson.

🕒 15:20 – Group teaching sessions

We’ll divide into smaller groups for Danish language lessons to practice speaking Danish and learning new words and phrases. There'll be opportunity to further explain ideas or any questions from the joint teaching.

🃏 16:30 – Hygge and fun at Elsk.

We will awaken our artistic talents and create chestnut art and light lanterns 🏮 with anything and everything we can find around us. We welcome you to join us get creative and have fun while doing so.

We’ll talk about adult life, weddings, work, and some of the experiences and traditions that come along with this stage of life.

🕒 15:20 – Group teaching sessions

We’ll divide into smaller groups to practice Danish together.

Level 1: 🍽️ Food & Meals – with Villy

Level 2: 🇩🇰 Danish practice with Bente

☕ Hygge & Hjælp – with hot cocoa

After the teaching sessions, there will be an opportunity for some extra Hygge & Hjælp, with a warm hot cocoa. 🍫

We’ll also bring out the UNO cards so we can all play together. 😊

We’ll wrap up another lovely afternoon together and say goodbye until next time. ❤️

Hello Elsk family,

We are back again this week to say thank you for being part of our anniversary celebration last week, and to welcome you once more for another Thursday session with us. As usual, it'll be filled with learning and fun activity.

Our free Danish lessons and Life Through series is still on the menu, and we believe that we probably have the best Thursday afternoon plan you can find anywhere in the city. Probably.

Without keeping you guessing what the plan is, we'll share it right here in this post so you have an idea of what to expect on Thursday 17th September 2026:

Our 'Life through' series continues with the topic 'School time' , where we discuss a bit about the education on Danish schools.

We’ll divide into smaller groups for Danish language lessons where you get to learn and practice speaking Danish. There'll be opportunity to further explain ideas or any questions from the joint teaching.

🃏 16:30 – Hygge and fun at Elsk.

We will cozy up to make fun and share in the excitement and competition of Banko. There'll be little prizes for the winners of the game as well.

Hej Allesammen 🇩🇰🎉

This Thursday, 10 September, we are looking forward to gathering again for another hyggelig afternoon of Danish learning, good conversations, and time together.

But this Thursday is extra special... EAI is celebrating its 12th birthday! 🎂🥳

EAI had its very first gathering on 11 September 2014, and this week we want to celebrate the journey and all the wonderful people who have been part of it throughout the years. ❤️

This week’s theme is Fødselsdag – Birthday! 🎂🎈

We’ll celebrate EAI’s 12th birthday together while practicing Danish and talking about birthdays, celebrations, traditions, and everything that comes with a typical Danish birthday party.

🕒 15:20 – Group teaching sessions

We’ll divide into smaller groups to practice Danish together.

Level 1: Daglige gøremål og dagsrytmer – Daily activities and daily routines.

Level 2: Danish practice with Bente.

🎉 Birthday celebration & activities

Of course, a birthday celebration needs cake! 🎂😄

We’ll have a traditional Danish kagemand, complete with candy and everything! There will also be flødeboller and some soft drinks.

We’ll also try playing pakkeleg! 🎁

It will be a hyggelig afternoon filled with Danish, games, cake, laughter, and good company. ❤️🤝
