Britain's largest solar farm poised to begin development in Kent
Britain’s largest solar farm, capable of generating enough clean electricity to power 91,000 homes, is poised to receive the greenlight from ministers this week.
The subsidy-free renewables park is expected to reach a capacity of 350MW by installing 880,000 solar panels – some as tall as buses – across 364 hectares (900 acres) of farmland in the Kent countryside.

Large areas of London to be made car-free as lockdown eased

The Belgrade waste-to-energy project in Vinča, which will provide the 1.7 million inhabitants of the Serbian capital with a modern waste management system, has reached financial close. As all the conditions of the financing agreement have now been fulfilled, lenders are starting loan disbursements to support the timely implementation of the project.

Government launches new £40 million Clean Growth Fund to supercharge green start-ups
The Clean Growth Fund will contribute towards the UK’s plans to reach Net Zero by 2050 and will be accessible to UK-based companies driving green technology across the power, transport, waste, and building energy efficiency sectors.

Albania’s EBRD supported solar tender diversifies energy supply, brings in high quality foreign investor.
Under the agreement, Voltalia will build and operate a 140 MW solar plant at the Albanian coastal site of Karavasta, selling half the electricity it produces to the Albanian state for a price of €24.89 per MW/hour, with the remaining half sold in the market. This price – less than half the ceiling of €55 – confirmed the value of preparing a tender in line with international best practice.

Albanians will enjoy greater energy security with the success of the country’s first solar tender, won by the French renewables company Voltalia.

A circular economy is based on the principles of designing out waste and pollution, keeping products and materials in use, and regenerating natural systems, according to one of its key proponents, the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, which also says the idea isn’t new.
