Energypedia

Energypedia energypedia is a knowledge platform offering free access to expert information on renewable energy & energy efficiency in developing countries.

Our mission is to empower energy practitioners by fostering free knowledge exchange global collaboration. energypedia is a renewable energy wiki in the context of development cooperation. Wiki thereby stands for a website designed to enable anyone who accesses it to easily contribute or modify content without any computer language. On energypedia.info everyone can create and revise articles on tec

hnologies, approaches and projects related to renewable energy and energy efficiency. Energypedia promotes knowledge and experience exchange to achieve universal access to sustainable energy for all people. Therefore, energypedia is open and free for everyone. Access to modern and clean energy sources is essential. One in five people lives without access to electricity. Every third person cooks on smoky fireplaces with negative consequences for personal health and the environment. Development is sorely needed, but most conventional development projects increase the demand for fossil fuels and exacerbate global climate change. An expansion of renewable energy is therefore essential not only in industrialized countries. But practical knowledge is often only in fragments. By bringing together energy experts from implementing organizations, universities, civil society, the public as well as the private sector, we will accelerate the distribution of sustainable energy solutions. Energypedia aims to remove knowledge and communication barriers so that theoretical knowledge can benefit from the lessons learnt from practitioners and vice versa. Following the old saying, we believe that knowledge sharing is power! Hence, we would like to invite you in the challenge to change the world by sharing our all knowledge!

In April, the 6th S-Access: International Conference on Solar Technologies & Hybrid Mini-Grids for Energy Access concluded in Palma de Mallorca, bringing together a global community committed to advancing sustainable, scalable, and inclusive energy access.
137 participants from 40 countries shared their knowledge from productive use and mini-grid demand to e-mobility, capacity building, and supply chain challenges.

Energypedia participated in the poster session, highlighting its role as a knowledge broker.
It was great to engage in interesting discussions with practitioners from such a committed community!

Authors Wanted!
We are looking for voluntary authors who want to share their expertise with other energy experts. If you are working in an energy project or company with focus on solar, hydro, biomass energy, productive use of energy, clean cooking and so on, please share your lessons learnt, your case studies or insights! Your knowledge can be useful to others - we don't need to re-invent the wheel... good examples (and failures too!) need to get more visibility so that the sector can learn from each other.

Learn here how to write an article or reach out to us.

Reading recommendation 👇️
This new Series—an update to the Series published in The Lancet in 2007—outlines the burden of disease associated with energy production and consumption; the drivers of and barriers to clean energy adoption; and how reliable, affordable, sustainable, and equitable electricity access in health-care facilities is necessary for achieving universal health coverage.

Access the series’ five research papers here:

"KOKO did not fail because its product was bad or because demand was weak. It failed because Africa’s carbon market infrastructure, consisting of registries, authorisation systems, and governance mechanisms, was not ready."
