This year we're turning a £410 Peugeot 308 into a full Ghostbusters Ecto-1 and driving it from Birmingham to Bovec across 7 countries, all in support of Solihull Family Care Trust. 👻🚗 Follow our journey!

As the dust settles, we’ve had the sobering realisation… we’ve still got to drive home! 🚗💨

Today’s mission: a monster 1,077 km (669 miles) — around 12 hours of non-stop driving — taking us through Italy, Austria, Germany, and finally into Reims, France 🇮🇹🇦🇹🇩🇪🇫🇷.

That’s a whole day of coffee, service-station snacks, questionable playlists, and the occasional “are we there yet?” — all while running on very little sleep and the fading adrenaline of the last few days.

And what a few days it’s been: winning the Skinflint Trophy for the second year in a row 🏆✨, and surviving (just about) our white-water rafting “near-death experience” 🌊😂.

But all of this is for a reason: to raise money for Newlands Bishop Farm, who provide incredible opportunities for adults with learning disabilities. Every single kilometre we cover is fuelled by your support. Please, if you haven’t yet — help us make this epic trek worthwhile. 🙏

🚣‍♂️⚓️ The Maiden (and Probably Final) Voyage of HMS Skinflint ⚓️🚣‍♂️

After conquering the rally, we thought: what next? So we christened our trusty inflatable boat HMS Skinflint. After all, what’s the worst that could happen? 🤔

On board our proud naval force:

Captain Mainwaring (Nick) – master of disaster, with “vast sailing experience” on swan boats in Cannon Hill Park.

Second Officer Tom – shouting random nautical terms like “brace the mizzenmast!” (we had no idea what that meant).

Chief Officer Craig – rehearsing his Oscar-worthy Titanic “I’m the king of the world” scene.

Head of Catering Corps Gez – armed with Pringles and Haribo, but absolutely no paddle.

And leading us, the legendary River Whisperer – a seasoned veteran of the Soča, who has guided countless adventurers through the rapids and always come back in one piece. Surely nothing could go wrong…

…until it did.

Three minutes in, Captain Mainwaring expertly steered HMS Skinflint straight into chaos. The boat capsized, the crew were launched downstream like drunk salmon, and we drank half of Slovenia’s fresh water supply before washing up half a mile later, battered but alive. 🌊😂

The twist? The only casualty was our actual professional guide, who left with a broken ankle. That’s right – the seasoned river veteran was the only one injured. HMS Skinflint’s crew? 100% survival rate. The guide? Not so lucky.

We survived a near-death adventure — and it’s all been for a brilliant cause: raising money for Newlands Bishop Farm, who do amazing work supporting adults with learning disabilities.

🏆 We can’t quite believe it… but we’ve only gone and done it again!

Back-to-back champions of the Skinflint Rally — the very first team ever to win the Skinflint Trophy two years on the trot. That’s history in the making right there.

What a journey, what a challenge, and what a cause. Every mile, every daft challenge, every sleepless hour behind the wheel has been worth it.

And the best part? An incredible £85,000 has been raised in total for multiple charities. 👏 A massive pat on the back to everyone involved in the Skinflint Challenge — the biggest winners today are those people who desperately need those funds. 💙

Another one bites the dust 🤦

🚢✨ Big one ticked off — we’re on the ferry crossing the Rhine! This little boat trip bags us a massive 80 points 🤯 … one of the highest scoring challenges on the Skinflint list.

If you’ve seen the challenge sheet, you’ll know how daft some of these tasks are — from getting photos with police officers, to hunting down abandoned airfields, to squeezing into lederhosen 🇩🇪😂 … but it’s all for a brilliant cause.

Once we’re off the ferry, we’ve got about an hour and a half of driving ahead, winding through the breathtaking Rhine Valley. Honestly, the scenery is unreal 🌄🚗

🚗💨 Day 3: Cologne ➝ Prague

We hit the road early this morning for one of our toughest legs yet — around 12 hours of driving from Cologne, winding through the stunning Rhine Valley 🇩🇪 before pushing on across into the Czech Republic 🇨🇿.

📖 A huge shout-out to Nick for his old-school navigation wizardry — yes, he’s guiding us across Europe with an actual paper atlas! Didn’t think those even existed anymore… but it’s working!

But this challenge isn’t just about endurance — it’s about purpose.
