Here are some of the words and impressions shared by audience members who experienced STUCK for the first time at Detour Dance Festival:

“The 5 dancers onstage with audiences in a 360 formation, quickly felt intimate and invoked the multilayered, strong, percussive and vulnerable energy of Mounia’s solo at Detour Festival 2023 at Blågårds theater. The choreographer has clearly been able to expand, communicate and transmute her vision, feeling and intention into an embodied experience for her dancers and certainly also for us the audience. “

Appreciation post incoming 👋🏾

There are days when Detour feels like a thousand moving parts at once and then there are the people who make it all feel possible.

I’m endlessly grateful for the friends who step in during the most intense days before and during the festival. Ljuba, flying in from New York year after year, standing beside me through the chaos 🌪️ three years and counting. Your presence gives me strength when the to-do list feels endless. I love having you in my corner, always.

Jolie Jolie Jolie 🤎 a constant. Since 2019 you’ve been part of this journey, never wavering. Detour’s MVP on the decks, but even more powerful just by being there. Your presence alone shifts the room.

This year’s volunteers were something special. Truly the best. A small team with kind hearts, and what a difference it makes to be surrounded by genuinely good people who lift the weight when it gets heavy. Thank you , , , and I couldn’t have done this without you.

And to everyone who reshared, encouraged, showed up, I see you. Thank you.

Directed by visionary choreographer Oulouy, KONG is a beastly work that denounces imperialism and colonialism, performed by the Ivorian street dance icon Ordinateur, with the direct participation from Namibia of the multidisciplinary artist xamques. A manifesto where image and sound come together powerfully to deliver a performance rich in satire and symbolism, featuring a choreographic display that pushes the limits of a single movement’s potential.

Direction, choreography and authorship: Oulouy
Performers: & xamques
Lightning design: Manuel Ordenavia
Produced and distributed by: Audiovisuals: Marta Minguell, Fullmoon & Oulouy
Art direction & scenography design – Studio Eisabeth Herzog

Here are some of the words and impressions shared by audience members who experienced Phakathi Inside for the first time at Detour Dance Festival:

“It’s rare that I am thinking about a performance for days but here I am. Phakathi Inside is a mystic, spiritual and beautiful voyage that will captivate you and leave you feeling lucky to have witnessed Joanna’s unique gift of storytelling.”
Cianne Denize

“Joannas extraordinary movement skills within slow motion, animation, popping, and waving, bent time and perception, holding the audience in a state of quiet awe during and beyond the performance. “
.olez

“Joanna’s solo unfolded like a rupture in time and space - cinematic, otherworldly. I was no longer on Earth. Every muscle in my body seemed to contract and release in slow motion together with Joanna, every emotion rising and falling as if I were moving alongside her spirit.”
Sara Jordan
