Fairventures Worldwide

Distribution of Cocoa Seedlings Begins! 🚜🌱

From November 12-24, our Cocoa Team is on the move, distributing cocoa seedlings to smallholder farmers in 7 villages across Katingan Regency, Indonesia.

This marks the start of a new chapter for these farmers in their cocoa production journey. After completing our Cocoa Farmer Field School, they are now ready to put their knowledge and skills into action. 🌱💪

A big thank you to everyone involved in the distribution process. Let’s keep planting, growing, and harvesting together for a greener future! 🌍💚

What is your wish for future generations?✨

This is the question we asked some young people from our team in Indonesia. Their hopes are a powerful reminder of the importance of our environment and the need to protect the forests we have.

"I hope that future generations will be more aware of the power our forests have and take care of them."

The responses also emphasized the importance of all of us working together to protect our environment: "Whatever you do and wherever you are, you are part of this amazing planet. Every action that you take matters, and it can help to build a better future for everyone." 🌎🌿

Let’s work together to create a better future for those who come after us.💚

🌿✨ Let's harvest our Nilam plants! ✨🌿

At the end of 2023, we launched our Nilam pilot project in Sumur Mas on the island of Borneo to test the potential of Nilam as an alternative source of income for farmers. Nilam, also known as Patchouli, is a shrub commonly used as a base for perfumes, incense, and aromatherapy. 🌱🧑‍🌾

After careful nurturing, our Nilam plants are now ready for harvest! Afterward, we distill the Nilam leaves and analyze the oil to further optimize our cultivation methods.

Join us on our journey to explore new intercrops for a greener future! 💚

🌳🌿 Why Agroforestry?🌿🌳

Our agroforestry approach plays a vital role in creating sustainable forests that combine timber and food crops, offering stable incomes for communities while preserving biodiversity and combating climate change.

In Uganda, we plant a variety of species, including Grevillea robusta, Albizia coriaria, and Cordia africana, along with Mangifera indica, Prunus africana, and Terminalia superba.🌱

Albizia chinensis for example is a fast-growing exotic tree that provides timber and fuel while enhancing soil fertility and controlling erosion.🌴

Meanwhile, Maesopsis eminii, a native tree, offers windbreak protection and is ideal for sustainable land management due to its coppiced growth.

Together, we can cultivate a greener, more resilient future! 💚

The Cocoa Farmer Field School in Katingan has been successfully implemented! 🧑‍🌾✨

Around 120 farmers from 7 villages in Katingan regency, Indonesia, learned about the basic practices of good cocoa cultivation. This activity aims to teach farmers important skills to help them cultivate cocoa more effectively in their area. With the right knowledge, we can achieve better harvests.🌳🍫

The Cocoa Farmer Field School runs for 4 weeks. This activity has 4 modules, with 1 module being learned each week. Each session is packed with knowledge and practical skills that can be applied right away. The farmers get to learn about cocoa planting techniques, seedling production, fertilization, pest and disease control, and grafting methods for shoots and side branches.🌿

We hope that all of this knowledge and practice will help the farmers achieve prosperity. Together, we can create a sweet future through cocoa cultivation! ✨

Making an Impact with Farmers! 🙌🌱

We’re excited to share an update from Kalteng Cocoa: we’ve just finished introducing the cocoa project to smallholder farmers in 7 villages across Katingan Regency, Indonesia. 🍫🧑‍🌾

In each village, 10-15 community members joined the sessions. These meetings helped us not only present the potential of cocoa cultivation but also get a deeper understanding of the farmers’ interests and needs.

Together, we’re working towards implementing a sustainable cocoa project alongside our reforestation efforts! 🌳🌿

Climate Change: The Driving Force and Biggest Challenge for our Tree Planting Projects in Uganda 🌍🌱

In May 2024, we launched a reforestation initiative in Uganda, engaging 283 farmers across 20 districts in Western, Eastern, and Central regions.👩‍🌾

This season, 475,735 seedlings were procured, with careful site-species matching to ensure they thrive under local conditions.

The planting season has started successfully in regions like Hoima and Kirewa, where recent rains have created ideal conditions for planting. 🌧️🌱

However, climate change has also caused setbacks. In Kasese District, inconsistent rainfall has delayed planting efforts.

This situation highlights the urgency of reforestation as climate change continues to disrupt local ecosystems. Despite these challenges, communities remain optimistic and united in the mission to plant more trees in Uganda. 🌳🤝

Join us in supporting these efforts! 🌿🌍

🌍 Supporting Ecosystem Restoration with the United Nations!

Ecosystem restoration is a crucial strategy in the fight against climate change.🌱

From October 21 to November 1, the 16th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP16) takes place in Cali, Colombia.

One of the highlights of CBD COP16 will be Restoration Day on October 30, which connects leaders, experts, and advocates from around the world to discuss and advance the cause of ecosystem restoration while tackling key challenges in negotiation and implementation. 🤝🌳

UN Decades aim to raise awareness for the biggest challenges of our time. As part of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, Fairventures Worldwide is dedicated to protecting biodiversity and improving livelihoods for local communities. By reforesting degraded land with over 5,000 smallholder farmers, we are making significant strides in supporting ecosystem restoration. 🌿

This goal can be achieved only if everyone plays a part. Even if we are not attending the summit in person, we are following the debates and want to use our channels to draw attention to the summit. Join us in our mission to create a sustainable future by supporting ecosystem restoration initiatives! 🙌💚

Marking the land with land-lining 🌱

Land-lining is an important phase once the planting season begins. Using simple tools like ropes, bamboo sticks, and ribbons, we mark the boundaries of the planting areas. This helps us precisely identify which sections need to be prepared for seedlings. 🌿🎋

Although the hilly terrain and dense shrubs on farmers' land present challenges, we don't let that stop us. Together with the farmers, we explore the land with enthusiasm and mutual support – as part of our commitment to reforestation. 🌳🤝

🎉 62nd Independence Day of Uganda 🎉

Uganda celebrates its Independence Day on October 9th each year, marking the day in 1962 when the country gained its independence from British colonial rule. This day is a time of national pride and reflection, as Ugandans honor their history, culture, and progress.

Let us use this day as an opportunity to also think about the future of the forests and future generations in Uganda — Together, we can create positive change! 🌍🌱
