Dear everyone,
As you might already know, after being inactive for quite a while now, our association INS² has come to an end. Due to the global pandemic and our already difficult staff situation, we could no longer keep our work going. That is why we have come to the conclusion that it is the best to liquidate INS². It has been a sad and difficult decision to take, but one we needed to take.
We want to thank all of you who have given us a like in the past months and shown their interest in our work. We really appreciate it.
Looking back, we are proud of 20 years of association work. Our team has put a lot of time, effort and energy into this association over the years to enhance the intercultural exchange between international and local students. We want to thank everyone in the team as well as everyone who participated in our events and shown their interest in our work. We also would like to give a special thanks to International Student Affairs (ISA) - Universität Siegen and Stadt Siegen for their cooperation and support. We are very grateful for that. Without all of you our work would have been impossible.
We are especially proud of all the events our team has organised. These were, amongst others, our monthly “Länderabend”, where one or more international students presented their country. You gave us and everyone who participated the opportunity to get a glimpse into your culture and life in your home country. It was especially in these kinds of events where we all learned a lot from each other, got even more curious about other cultures and broadened our horizons. We want to thank everyone who shared their country and culture with us, everyone who participated and everyone from the team who helped with the organisation and preparation. We also want to give a big thanks to the frei:RAUM for providing the location.
Other events that we proudly look back at were social events such as pub nights or dinners, cultural outings such as museum visits and sporty activities such as playing Lasertag. We also offered a tutoring programme, the “Krönchen-Exchange” where local students helped international students getting acclimatised to their new environment and showed them the way around Siegen and the university. Hereby, the cultural and linguistic exchange, but also of course the fun in doing these activities were of great importance for everyone. We want to thank all of you who put their time and energy into it to make it a success.
We are all very sad that this time has come to an end. Our team has shared with all of you a lot of beautiful moments, enriching experiences; culturally and personally and many, many moments of laughter, joy and happiness.
However sad this is, this is not the end of the internationality of our university. There is Erasmus Student Network Siegen who do their work amazingly. For everyone who wants to participate in cultural exchanges and events, feel free to reach out to them!
If you have any questions or want to talk to us, we are still available via mail or facebook-messenger until 2022.
A huge THANKS again to everyone involved during all those years. We are very grateful for everyone’s time, help and hard work to make us look back proudly on all that we have achieved together!!! We will miss all of you greatly!
So, for now it is time to say goodbye. Please stay safe and healthy everyone and remember that brighter times lie ahead of us.
Yours sincerely,
The team of INS²
