The Aero-Club Rheidt (ACR) is a major club in Germany with about ca. 275 members. The airfield is located near Cologne in the City of Niederkassel, or, 50 km away from the Jet Power in Bad Neuenahr. Our pilots use to fly all kind of model air planes: Gliders, Helis, Jets, War Birds, aerobatic Models, a lot of electrically driven “foam waffles” and trainers. In Germany we have two national bodies for the model flying community: the DAeC (Deutscher Aero-Club/German Aero-Club) and the DMFV (Deutscher Modellfliegerverband/German Model Flying Association). The DAeC also is the home for all man-carrying flying activities and it is the only german affiliation to FAI. However, our club belongs to the DMFV who is the larger representation for the RC activities. The socalled Euroflugtag is a non-profit 3-days model air show held every year in August. The idea behind this event is a come-together of pilots to promote international relationships in a relaxed atmosphere without the pressure of contest. Idealism is the driving force combined with fun and pleasure. A significant part of our guest pilots uses to arrive several days prior to the show. For these early birds we usually organize a social event on the airfield or in the vicinity, e.g., a boat trip on the river Rhine. We are not governed by FAI or any other organization. Participation is on an invitational basis. That means pilots do not need any endorsement from FAI, DAeC or DMFV. We guess that there are 50000 members in the DAeC (affiliated to FAI) and 70000 in the DMFV comprising ca. 1200 clubs. There are no participant fees for pilots, their helpers and family members. All pilots and their helpers get 10 bons per days and a free pilots dinner. Additionally we offer some free entertainment and show acts. Due to the non-contest character we do not offer any prizes.
