🚨 Would you know what to do in a cardiac emergency? 🚨

According to a recent American Red Cross survey, 8 out of 10 people believe it’s important to know CPR and how to use an AED — yet only 1 in 4 Americans feel confident enough to actually perform CPR or use an AED in an emergency.

Every year in the U.S., more than 300,000 people suffer an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, and 60–80% do not survive long enough to reach the hospital. In those critical moments, immediate action can mean the difference between life and death.

💓 Cardiac arrest can happen anywhere, at any time — at home, at work, at the gym, or in public spaces. Every minute without CPR and defibrillation decreases a person’s chance of survival by 7–10%. When CPR and an AED are used within the first few minutes, survival rates can double or even triple.

Many bystanders hesitate to help because they fear doing something wrong or simply don’t know what to do. That’s why CPR and AED training is so important.

AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators) are often located in visible public areas such as:
✔️ Airports
✔️ Schools
✔️ Gyms
✔️ Shopping malls
✔️ Office buildings

They are commonly found near entrances, elevators, security desks, cafeterias, and main hallways in clearly marked cabinets.

Knowing how to quickly locate and use an AED could save the life of a friend, family member, coworker — or even a stranger.

❤️ Gain the skills and confidence to act when seconds matter.

Please SHARE and SIGN UP to DONATE BLOOD & save lives with the DoD’s Armed Services Blood Program-Europe at our routine blood drives. This is open to everyone with base access (US/NATO military, civilian & local national staff, retirees, and family members 18 and up), thanks to relaxed eligibility rules.

SIGN UP to DONATE BLOOD and/or Volunteer on the NEW system: https://go.mil/ASBP-E.

Why? Cool gifts and snacks are nice, but you will feel great knowing your blood donation will maintain the military’s blood supply to help patients in military hospitals! Military & Families LIVE when donors GIVE to the ASBP.

Leaders: Please champion this effort and encourage maximum participation from your teams and spouses. Consider offering DoD-authorized incentives (no PT, time off, awards, double volunteer hours, etc.).
