🚒🔥 Fire Safety, Community Spirit, and a Little SWEETNESS! 🍬❤️

What’s a better way to spend a Saturday than hanging out at the Ramstein Fire Department, connecting with military members and their families, and sharing important fire safety information? Add in some American Red Cross resources, amazing volunteers, and a little candy, and you’ve got a recipe for a fantastic day! 🙌

Our incredible volunteers showed up in true Red Cross spirit, generously donating their time, sharing valuable information about fire safety and the services the American Red Cross provides, and bringing smiles to dozens of faces along the way. ❤️

Now, I’d love to say the fire safety tips and Red Cross information stole the show… but let’s be honest. 🍬😂 The candy might have been the biggest hit of the day! Sometimes, a little sweetness goes a long way in opening the door to important conversations.

🤝 And the day got even better! We had the opportunity to connect with our counterparts from the Deutsches Rotes Kreuz (German Red Cross). While the American Red Cross and German Red Cross have different missions and roles here in Germany, it was exciting to exchange knowledge, learn about each other’s capabilities, and discover more about the skills and services we each bring to our communities.

Days like these remind us that service is about so much more than sharing information. It’s about building relationships, strengthening communities, learning from one another, and making a difference—one conversation and one smile at a time. ❤️🌍

Please join us in celebrating Jessica, our August Volunteer of the Month! ♥️

Jessica moved to the KMC last July and has been serving as our MTF Lead since January 2026. In just a short time, she has made a huge impact, helping make the onboarding process smoother for our MTF volunteers and ensuring they feel supported and able to contribute in meaningful ways.

Outside of the Red Cross, Jessica stays busy leading three Girl Scout troops in the KMC and loves bouldering, family board game nights, and getting lost in a good book! 📚

Fun Fact: The Lord of the Rings trilogy is her most rewatched movie series! 🎬

Jessica also has a special place in her heart for Budapest, where she once took a Critical Care course. The experience of getting to know the city and its community and giving back.

Jessica, thank you for your hard work and dedication as our MTF Lead! We're so lucky to have you, and we truly appreciate the impact you've made on our volunteers and community.♥️

Today, members of the Kaiserslautern Military Community came together at Ramstein Air Base for the 9/11 Memorial March, marking the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001.

With every step, we remembered the lives lost, honored the courage and sacrifice of first responders and service members, and reflected on the strength and unity that emerged in the face of tragedy.

This meaningful event was made possible through the collaboration of the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army, Wounded Warrior Project, and the KMC American Red Cross. We are incredibly grateful to each organization and every partner who helped bring our community together for this important day of remembrance.

Most importantly, a very special shout out goes to our amazing volunteers! From preparing behind the scenes to supporting participants throughout the march, your time, energy, and dedication made today's event possible. We truly could not have done it without you.

Thank you to everyone who joined us as we remembered, honored, and walked together.

We will never forget.

Today, on the 25th anniversary of September 11, we remember the lives lost, honor the courage of first responders, and recognize the countless individuals who stepped forward to serve.

Within minutes of the attacks, the American Red Cross mobilized volunteers and staff across the nation. They opened shelters, served meals and water, supported stranded travelers, assisted families searching for loved ones, and provided care and comfort to first responders at Ground Zero and the Pentagon.

In the months and years that followed, more than 57,000 Red Cross volunteers and staff served over 14 million meals and snacks assisted more than 59,000 families, and helped communities begin the long journey toward recovery.

Twenty-five years later, their compassion reminds us that service does not always mean running into danger. Sometimes, it means caring for those who do and making sure no one faces tragedy alone.

Today, we remember those we lost, honor those who served, and carry forward the spirit of helping others.

The Armed Services Blood Program (ASBP) is still looking for blood donors AND volunteers for this month’s blood drive here on Ramstein.

We currently have 54 of 95 donor appointments booked, which means there are still plenty of spots available! 🙌

This Friday, September 11, our community will come together at Woodlawn Golf Course at Ramstein Air Base for the 25th Anniversary 9/11 Memorial March.

With approximately 500 participants expected, this will be our largest Memorial March yet and we need your help to make this meaningful event possible!
