*NSANJAMA AND MWANGOTHAYA SCHOOL GARDEN ACTIVITIES*

Among the four schools where Mlango Association is providing financial and technical assistance, Nsanjama and Mwangothaya schools have progressed well in various agricultural activities.

The pumpkins, bananas and okra that were planted are receiving maximum care by pupils. Mwangothaya is also constructing a new keyhole garden. Apart from the scheduled agriculture periods, these pupils sometimes spend some of their free time, when they knock off, to water, w**d and even trim the live fences. This is a true manifestation of their dedication and passion on the gardens.

These activities also form part of their lessons in the subject of agriculture. The lessons of w**ding, watering and trimming get stuck into the mind as the pupils get valuable practical experience from their engagement in the school gardens.

Meanwhile, Mlango Association team leader, Sir Douglas Mandala, on behalf of Mlango Board, has commended the agriculture teacher and the pupils for the efforts on the school garden. He has also urged some schools to take Nsanjama and Mwangothaya school gardens as their best example.

*MLANGO FEEDING PROGRAMME, Second term, 2024/2025 ACADEMIC YEAR*

Mlango surely knows that proper food is essential for a pupil's learning and growth. Pupils who are well fed have healthy bodies and minds and this initiates alertness and concentration in class.

As the 2024/2025 academic year proceeds into the second term, over 5,000 pupils continue to enjoy the good meal of Likuni phala (porridge) from the very first day of the term in all the four Mlango supported schools primary schools in MULANJE (Nsanjama, Mwangothaya, Nkondezi and Mapereka).

A visit to the schools on 1st day of term 2 by the projects coordinator, Mr Wyson Phillipo revealed that no school missed the feeding programme. The team leader Sir Douglas Davies Mandala emphasized to the team that it will be an unforgivable sin to let pupils go without porridge even for a single day.

The volunteers cooking the porridge were so cheerful and appeared to be enjoying the work.
