Woman.Body is a space where women’s voices speak about the most intimate: their bodies.
From an early age, the female body is placed under observation, evaluation, and control. It is expected to meet ever-changing standards: to be slim, young, smooth, and “correct.” At the same time, its reality — cycles, vulnerability, change — is ignored or stigmatized.
This project grew out of personal experience and the realization of how little we actually know about our own bodies — despite centuries of their representation in art and regulation in culture. Even today, medicine cannot fully explain or effectively treat many processes and conditions affecting millions of women.
Woman.Body brings together the stories of twenty women — diverse, sometimes painful, sometimes liberating. These are stories of shame and violence, misunderstanding and resistance, and attempts to listen to oneself and reclaim control over one’s own body.
We consciously reject canons and norms — both visual and narrative. Instead, we create a space where each woman can speak in her own language and be seen without a filter.
This project is not about what a body should be.
It is about who it belongs to.
And perhaps about how to gradually reclaim that right.
