The goal of KIBS Europe is to support and promote all the activities of H.H. 17th Karmapa Thaye Dorje. The KIBI-semester runs from October to March.

As a uniting umbrella for a variety of ongoing and newly launched projects, KIBS was founded in January 2012 in order to provide genuine Buddhist knowledge; foster Tibetan culture and initiate and uphold a multitude of charity-projects, all under the special direction of the 17th Karmapa. The core of Buddhist teachings is offered at the KIBI, the Karmapa International Buddhist Institute. There, in

terested westerners have undertaken extensive studies; short meditation-courses and attended public lectures for many years. This has given the students a direct approach to Buddhist wisdom. Buddhist philosophy, Tibetan, Sanskrit and more are included in a 3-year diploma program transmitting extensive Buddhist knowledge. Translating texts, building libraries or transmitting the art of classical Tibetan Thangka-painting, KIBS helps to preserve and pass-on the cultural heritage of India and Tibet. They are a key to an in-depth understanding of the Buddhist teachings within.
