All Woodcarvings Remain Slow Motion Mobiles
March 21 – May 31, 2026 Kunstverein München is one of the oldest institutions of its kind in Germany.

With its spaces located in the historical arcades of the Hofgarten, it is not only an essential part of the Munich art scene since its founding in 1823, but way beyond the city's limits, it is also internationally recognised as an innovative and discursive platform for contemporary art and its discourse. Kunstvereins [art associations] were thus not only spaces for presenting contemporary art but

primarily also spaces for social exchange, where through active contemplation of current art the critical consciousness of a temporary collective could develop. It is precisely this central notion of a vital and social exchange on uncertain cultural terrain that, up until today, defines the Kunstverein's work as an indispensable force in the network of cultural institutions - even though, naturally, the political and societal conditions have changed significantly.

Amedeo Maria Schwaller präsentiert eine Live-Performance auf der Shō, der traditionellen japanischen Mundorgel, die im Gagaku, der historischen Hofmusik Japans, verwendet wird. Das Instrument besteht aus einem Bündel von Bambusrohren und erzeugt durch kontinuierlichen Atem lang anhaltende Akkorde, wodurch ein dichtes und sich langsam veränderndes Klangfeld entsteht.

Jede Performance dauert etwa 15 Minuten und findet zur vollen Stunde um 15, 16 und 17 Uhr statt.

Veranstaltung im Rahmen des Various Others Eröffnungswochenendes.

Amedeo Maria Schwaller presents a live performance for shō, the traditional Japanese mouth organ used in gagaku, the ancient court music of Japan. Composed of a cluster of bamboo pipes, the instrument produces sustained chords through continuous breath, forming a dense and slowly shifting harmonic field. Each performance lasts approximately 15 minutes and takes place on the hour at 15:00, 16:00, and 17:00.

This event takes place during the Various Others opening weekend.

Jason Dodge liest aus einer Auswahl an Texten, die am Tag der Veranstaltung selbst ausgewählt werden. Die Lesung entfaltet sich ohne vorgegebenes Programm, wobei jeder Text in Beziehung zum anderen und zur jeweils entstehenden Situation gesetzt wird.

fivehundredplaces, 2012 von Jason Dodge initiiert, produziert und verbreitet Lyrik in einer Auflage von jeweils 500 Exemplaren. Die einzelnen Texte werden in enger Zusammenarbeit mit den Poet*innen gedruckt und in Zirkulation gebracht.

Die Lesung findet im Rahmen der Schaufenster-Reihe des Kunstverein München statt, die – von 500Places konzipiert – über das gesamte Jahr Lyrik im Fenster zum Hofgarten präsentiert.

Die Lesung dauert etwa 25 Minuten, mit anschließendem Umtrunk und Gespräch.
Die Lesung findet auf Englisch statt.

Jason Dodge will read a selection of texts, chosen on the day of the event. The reading unfolds without a fixed program, with each text positioned in relation to the others and to the situation at hand.

fivehundredplaces, initiated by Jason Dodge in 2012, produces and circulates poetry in editions of 500, working
directly with poets to bring individual texts into print and into use.

The reading takes place within the Kunstverein München’s “Schaufenster” series, in which 500Places presents poetry throughout the year in the window facing the Hofgarten.

The reading will last approximately 25 minutes and will be followed by drinks and conversation.

Mit All Woodcarvings Remain Slow Motion Mobiles präsentiert der Kunstverein München
die erste Publikation zur Arbeit von Matt Browning, herausgegeben anläßlich seiner
gleichnamigen Ausstellung. Gedruckt auf verschieden grammaturierten wie veredelten

With “All Woodcarvings Remain Slow Motion Mobiles,” Kunstverein München presents the first publication on Matt Browning’s work, published in conjunction with his exhibition of the same name. Printed on different papers of varying grammages and coatings and loosely bound in a hand-assembled folder, the publication brings together newly commissioned photographs, large-format prints, and other expanded exhibition documentation of Browning’s sculptures. Central to the collection of printed matter is a commissioned essay by Rhea Anastas, alongside a text contribution by Matt Browning.
