Im Rahmen des QFFM :: Q***r Film Festival München lud die ukrainische Filmregisseurin und Kulturwissenschaftlerin Anastasia Nizamova am Samstag zu einem Workshop. In dem experimentellen Format "When Q***r Cinema meets Mindfulness" verband die in München lebende Künstlerin Achtsamkeitsübungen mit Filmtheorie und Elementen des „Slow Cinema“, um Film, Zeit und Sehgewohnheiten neu erfahrbar zu machen. Das Publikum hat's geliebt, wie's scheint 🥰 Danke für die Fotos, Ronny Heine / Q***r Film Festival München.

Wir danken unseren Gästen, dem Team um Nastia Christina Holbrook, Mascha sowie Silvia Häutle vom QFFM sowie dem Team von Munich Kyiv Q***r, inbesondere Thomas, Petro und Leonard für Euren Einsatz. ❤️ Ohne Euch wäre das Publikum sicher wenig glücklich aus der Vorstellung gekommen.

Wir freuen uns sehr, dass Münchens q***re Chöre ihr Adventskonzert wieder zugunsten von q***ren Kriegsopfern in und aus der Ukraine gestalten. Es ist ja schon eine Tradition - aber trotzdem keineswegs selbstverständlich! 🥰 Wir sagen jetzt schon 1000fach Danke!

Der anstehende Winter verschärft die Härten des Krieges. Während Russlands Angriffe weiterhin massive Zerstörungen an Wohngebäuden, der Energie- und Versorgungsinfrastruktur sowie des kulturellen Erbes anrichten und leider auch Menschenleben fordern, wird die russische Invasion zunehmend auch zu einer Frage mentaler Resilienz.

Q***re Menschen sind in Krisenzeiten besonders gefährdet – aufgrund tief verwurzelter Vorurteile sowie struktureller und rechtlicher Diskriminierung. Und auch, weil sie – infolge von Wissens- und Verständnislücken – vom humanitären System strukturell kaum berücksichtigt und einbezogen werden.

Unter diesen Umständen machen Dinge, die normalerweise als selbstverständlich gelten, den Unterschied zwischen einem psychischen und physischen Notzustand und einem Gefühl der Selbstbestimmung: das Aufladen des Handys, wenn der Strom schon seit Stunden ausgefallen ist, sich warm zu halten, wenn die Heizung wieder mal ausfällt, Zugang zu heißem Wasser, wenn nichts mehr zuverlässig funktioniert.

Eine Powerbank, eine Heizdecke, eine warme Jacke, heißes Wasser und ein sicherer Ort zum Übernachten sind jetzt entscheidend.

This is a call for help by the NGO Q***r Emergency Aid Ukraine of which we are part. Winter campaign has started.

As Munich Kyiv Q***r provides INDIVIDUAL help to Ukrainian LGBTIQ* in need, the QNU - consisting of around 70 German LGBTIQ* groups - supports ukrainian LGBTIQ* ORGANISATIONS. Learn more in the links below our profile.

"Winter intensifies the hardships of war. While Russian attacks continue to cause massive destruction to residential buildings, energy and utility infrastructure, and cultural heritage and to kill people, the Russian full-scale invasion is also increasingly becoming a matter of mental survival.

Q***r people are especially exposed during times of crisis – due to deeply rooted prejudice and structural and legal discrimination. And also because they are – as a consequence of gaps in knowledge and understanding – structurally hardly addressed by and included in the humanitarian system (Outright International, “Advocating For LGBTIQ Inclusion in Ukraine’s Humanitarian Response”, 2025).

Chairperson of one of our partner organizations says that this year, it is not enough to only talk about “getting through the winter” - it is also about maintaining a basic level of autonomy and resilience.

Under these conditions, things that are usually taken for granted make exactly the difference between a psychological and physical state of emergency and a sense of agency: charging your phone when the power has been out for hours, staying warm when the heating fails again, access to hot water when nothing is reliable anymore.

A good, well-reasoned opinion piece from The Kyiv Independent. The course of the war is moving in three directions:

1) As Russia is being cornered on the battlefield,
2) Putin is killing as many civilians as possible in order to break the resistance of the Ukrainian population,
3) whilst, at the same time, support from the Allies remains indecisive and diplomatic efforts are bearing no fruit.

None of this is leading to a swift end to Russian aggression.

So we will have to continue practising resilience and defining ‘happy places’ for ourselves – especially as the enemy within our countries is growing ever stronger.

Ever-shortening attention spans shape our everyday lives and the way we watch films. According to the French phenomenologist Maurice Merleau-Ponty, habit and abstract thought cover the lived world with a layer of ready-made concepts: We no longer perceive things, we merely identify them as members of familiar categories.

Art has the task of stripping away this layer and returning us to the pre-reflective experience in which the world is still forming, so that we can perceive it anew, as if for the first time.

Anastasia develops this idea in her experimental format "When Q***r Cinema Meets Mindfulness." It is an event that combines the art theory of defamiliarization, elements of Slow Cinema, and mindfulness practices. The goal is to let participants experience film, time, and their own viewing habits in a new way.

Immer kürzere Aufmerksamkeitsspannen begleiten unseren Alltag und unsere Sehgewohnheiten. Nach dem Formalisten Viktor Shklovsky stumpfen die Gewohnheiten unsere Wahrnehmung ab: Wir sehen die Welt nicht mehr, wir erkennen sie nur noch automatisiert.

Die Kunst dagegen hat die Aufgabe, uns aus diesem Autopiloten zu reißen, indem sie das Vertraute unvertraut macht, um uns die „Empfindung des Lebens“ zurückzugeben. Genau hier treffen sich Filmtheorie und Achtsamkeitspraxis im Kino.

q***r.de schreibt: "Die Zustimmung zu LGBTIQ*-Rechten in der Ukraine hat in den letzten Jahren – insbesondere beschleunigt durch den russischen Angriffskrieg und den angestrebten EU-Beitritt – einen historischen Wandel vollzogen. Rund 70 Prozent der Ukrainer*innen stimmen laut Untersuchungen des Kyjiwer Internationalen Instituts für Soziologie der Aussage zu, dass q***re Menschen die gleichen Rechte wie alle anderen Bürger*innen des Landes haben sollten. Zum Vergleich: 2016 befürworteten das nur rund 33 Prozent, 2023 waren es bereits 58 Prozent. Grund für den Stimmungswandel ist unter anderem die Abgrenzung von Russland, da das Putin-Regime Homosexuellenfeindlichkeit zu einem ihrer Haupterkennungsmerkmale gemacht hatte. Auch die Sichtbarkeit von q***ren Menschen im Militär hat zum Meinungswandel beigetragen."

Im Zuge der Annäherung an die Europäische Union soll das ukrainische Arbeitsrecht modernisiert werden. Ein neuer Regierungsentwurf stärkt insbesondere die Rechte von trans, inter und nichtbinären Beschäftigten am Arbeitsplatz. (Politik - Europa)

Today, our dear Anna Medko has passed away. For many years, together with Olena Globa and her fellow activists from the TERGO parents’ initiative in Ukraine, we brought them to Munich, we were invited to Ukraine and organised numerous events together.

TERGO is a real success story. Founded by Olena and Anna, and hosted by Точка опори ЮА - NGO Fulcrum UA the aim was for mothers (and fathers) in a Ukraine characterised by homo- and transphobia to fight for equal rights and acceptance for their children.

This has worked increasingly well over the years, as people in Ukraine have become more and more open towards LGBTIQ* people. Anna herself was deeply committed and, together with Olena, the heart of the group. Our condolences go out to all of Anna’s family, friends and supporters. We will miss her dearly. R.I.P.

The photos are from the exhibition "Our Families" that we have shown in Munich in 2016. Through seven stories, the exhibition explores the lives of LGBTIQ* children and/or siblings in Ukrainian families. We opened one part of it in Munich's Gay-Community Centre Sub and the other one at the Cultural Centre Gorod.
