World Uyghur Congress (WUC) is an international umbrella organization promoting Uyghur human rights and a peaceful solution for the conflict in East Turkestan. The WUC was established on 16 April 2004 in Munich, Germany, after the East Turkestan National Congress and the World Uyghur Youth Congress merged into one united organisation.

PRESS RELEASE: The World Uyghur Congress Strongly Condemns the Death Penalty of Uyghurs in Thailand

On 11 June 2026, the Bangkok South Criminal Court found two Uyghurs guilty of carrying out the August 2015 bombing of the Erawan Shrine in Bangkok, which killed 20 people and injured more than 120 others.

Bilal Mohammed and Yusufu Mieraili have spent nearly 11 years in detention since their arrest, and both maintain their innocence and have said they will appeal their conviction and death sentence.

As part of the Third International Uyghur Forum, lawmakers from Canada, the United States, Germany, France, Hungary, and Czechia gathered today at a parliamentary luncheon in the German Bundestag to discuss advancing the rights of the Uyghur people.

The event featured powerful firsthand testimony from a witness to the atrocities committed by the Chinese government and the launch of the report “10 Years of the Uyghur Genocide”, commissioned by the World Uyghur Congress and the Uyghur Center for Democracy and Human Rights.

The luncheon reaffirmed the importance of international cooperation in holding perpetrators accountable and bringing justice for the Uyghur people.
