You don't want to miss the exhibition "Johnny Miller – Unequal Scenes & Salt Works."

We are presenting at the Amerikahaus in München two major bodies of work by the American photographer Johnny Miller that combine documentary precision with extraordinary visual power and open new perspectives on society, landscape, and the ways in which people shape their environment.

📅We will celebrate the exhibition opening on Friday, October 16, 2026, at 7 p.m.❗Johnny Miller and curators Ana Druga and Thomas Gust (both Buchkunst Berlin) will be present for an Artist Talk.

🌆In his internationally-renowned series "Unequal Scenes," Miller uses drones to depict urban spaces. These aerial photographs powerfully visualize the transitions, boundaries, and divisions between different neighborhoods and territories, making social inequalities tangible.

🖼The exhibition is complemented by works from the series "Salt Works." Here, Miller turns his gaze to the vibrantly colored landscapes of industrial salt production in Namibia, Mexico, and the San Francisco Bay Area. Behind the visual beauty lies a complex interplay of nature, technology, and human intervention in the landscape.

ℹ️Johnny Miller is an American photographer, filmmaker, artist, and drone journalist. Miller’s photographs have been exhibited and published worldwide, including on the cover of "TIME" magazine and in "National Geographic."

You can't make it to the opening? Join us for the "Lange Nacht der Münchner Museen" on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at 9 p.m., for an exclusive tour through the exhibition with Johnny Miller, himself, and curator Thomas Gust. No registration necessary.

BONUS: On Sunday, October 18, 2026, at 11 a.m., Johnny Miller and Thomas Gust will hold a lecture on aerial photography and explain the rich history of aerial imaging. At the heart of the lecture is the question: When does a bird’s-eye view become insight—and when does it become an instrument of control? Miller and Gust will personally lead guests through the exhibition following the discussion. Grab your ticket on our website!

👉Following the opening of the exhibition, it will be open from Saturday, October 17, 2026, through Saturday, January 9, 2027.

ℹ️More information on the exhibition and surrounding events can be found here: www.amerikahaus.de
