Global Peace Path

Global Peace Path Global Peace Path is a project that combines language learning with community service. Join this worldwide peace campaign and share your peace poetry with us!

Students create poetry on the topic of peace and display it locally and online. The goal of Global Peace Path is to LITERALLY create a Global Peace Path. Participants (e.g. children and students of all age groups and educational institutions, teachers, professors, youth groups, poets, artists, and anyone who is interested) write poems and/or create pieces of art that are connected to the topic of

peace, display them locally and share them on our Global Peace Path world map, so other people can read them too. Participate in the project now! We are looking forward to hearing from you: [email protected]

Feel free to post your work also directly on this page. And don't worry - this project is not about writing perfect poetry. It is about many people becoming advocates for peace. Every poem or artistic contribution is highly welcome and will enrich the Global Peace Path.

January 2026

Students from the P-Seminar at Oskar-von-Miller-Gymnasium Munich and their teacher, StDin Mira Neygandhi, visited a TEFL seminar at LMU on 21 January 2026 to gain a closer look at the academic and practical training future teachers undergo.

During the seminar, the students worked alongside university participants and were introduced to the pedagogical concept of Service Learning, which combines academic learning with community service. In mixed groups of school students and university students, they collaboratively developed contributions for the Global Peace Path project.

The students did a wonderful job together, and we hope the experience not only offered valuable perspectives on teacher education but also provided meaningful insights into civic engagement. We also hope they enjoyed the collaboration and the opportunity to contribute to the Global Peace Path.

Creative Workshop Club – Shaping Peace with Heart and Hands

In the first half of the school year, the Creative Workshop Club focused on the important and timely theme of peace. Through creative and language-based activities, students explored what peace means to them in their families, at school, among friends, and in the wider world. They also learned about peace symbols such as the dove, the peace sign, and the olive branch, as well as the origins of the Nobel Peace Prize.
The students began by creating acrostic poems using the word “FRIEDEN,” expressing in words and drawings what peace means to them. They also wrote short eleven-word poems (Elfchen) about friendship, respect, and togetherness, which were attached with wire to painted stones. In addition, the dove as a symbol of peace was explored artistically through dot-art paintings and delicate origami mobiles.
Through creativity and collaboration, the project encouraged reflection, conversation, and a sense of community, showing that peace begins with each individual.

February 2026

On International Mother Language Day, proclaimed annually by UNESCO, Gymnasium Karlsfeld (GMK) celebrated linguistic and cultural diversity through a whole-school approach involving students across all year levels. Greetings, poems, and short texts in many different heritage languages highlighted the richness of multilingualism and its importance for identity, mutual respect, and shared learning. It was particularly moving to witness students with cultural origins in countries currently at war with one another standing side by side and reciting poems together, offering a powerful testament to dialogue, empathy, and shared humanity beyond conflict.
Inspired by the story of Sadako Sasaki, the students also created more than 1,000 colorful origami cranes as symbols of hope and peace. Together with their dialogical presentations and creative contributions from the entire school community, these works became part of the Global Peace Path. As a result, the GMK is now officially the 35th Global Peace Path project.
The day concluded with the ceremonial presentation of a certificate, reinforcing the message that diversity is a strength and that peace begins with small, conscious actions in everyday school life.

December 2025
Seeds of Peace
- Verses for a Peaceful 2026 -

Created by TEFL students from the University of Munich (LMU), this project grew out of their engagement with digital citizenship education and a hands-on exploration of AI in poetry creation. Starting from the first three verses “From the corners of a restless word…”, the students worked on the task of creating a collaborative visual poem.

One thing is clear: AI cannot—and should not—replace our own thoughts. Instead, through carefully chosen personal prompts, AI became a tool that allowed students to experiment with poetic language, reflect critically, and create together.

The resulting poems aim to counteract the many negative texts circulating online by promoting peace and offering a positive impulse for 2026.

We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! 🎄✨

Students at Gymnasium München-Moosach Share Messages of Peace Through Art and Poetry

Fifth, sixth and eleventh graders from Gymnasium München-Moosach near Munich, Germany, have created peace-themed poetry and visual art to promote harmony within their school community and beyond. The project was initiated by Anna Lenhardt in collaboration with fellow teachers Jonas Wallner, Mirjam Winkler and Violetta Faß. The resulting display beautifully captures how students send their messages of peace out into the world.

Peace Circle at KlosterGut Schlehdorf

At the heart of KlosterGut Schlehdorf, a unique space for connection and reflection is taking shape. Inspired by the Global Peace Path, a student project has been carried out that builds upon peace ideas developed at this site many years ago, transforming them into a tangible and interactive experience.

The Peace Path features a labyrinth with a ginko in its center. Another core feature already created in the past is the Peace Pole. In 2025, the vision of a new element, a Peace Circle, was conceived and realized. The student project comprises a globe-shaped stone mosaic, surrounded by a semi-circular seating wall. A looped grass path connects the four elements of the Peace Path—Peace Pole, Peace Tree, Labyrinth and Peace Circle—framed by fruit-bearing shrubs, representing a place for ‘fruitful’ exchange. This welcoming space, which was designed by Kathrin Reich, invites locals and visitors to engage in peaceful and meaningful encounters.

As part of the project and inspired by Sister Josepha, participants also literally created a Peace Network: 18 wooden poles encircle the Peace Pole, linked by colorful yarn, representing interconnected values, visions, and aspirations for inner and outer peace.

Unlike previous Global Peace Path projects, which convey peace through poetry, this initiative takes a more immersive and symbolic approach—offering a wonderful place where nature and metaphor blend to inspire harmonious coexistence. While it is planned to also further integrate poetry, it can already be found on the ginko, where Goethe’s poem on bipolarity reminds us to accept and integrate opposites, or when Friday peace prayers are followed by peace songs such as ‘shalom chaverim’ or Stegmüller’s peace tree song.
