We are on a mission to support the education of children in Southern Africa who can’t afford the costs of quality education. We do this through raising funds for vetted charities in South Africa and Lesotho. Our aim is to create an engaged community of friends and sponsors who also believe that through education we can generate sustainable change in the lives of children and eventually their commu

nities. We build close partnerships with our partner organisations in South Africa, all recipients of funds have been carefully vetted and are transparent in their dealings with Sawabona Africa.
100 % of donations received in Germany are transferred to the charity of your choice. Help us give children in South Africa a brighter future which they truly deserve.

Every child dreams of possibilities. At Bright Start, those dreams get a real chance.

In Hout Bay, Cape Town, children from under-resourced communities deserve access to the same quality education as any other child in South Africa. Bright Start levels the playing field — with a truly holistic educational programme that gives children the opportunity to reach their very best potential and to follow their dreams, one child at a time.

Founded in 2008 to address the huge inequality in education, Bright Start developed an Education Support Model that goes far beyond the classroom — supporting the whole child, and the whole family. That means school fees, transport, mentorship, health checks, tutoring, internet access, and parental support.

Sawabona Africa is proud to sponsor and support Bright Start — and at our Summer Party on 27 June, Bright Start will be part of the evening too.

Every glass of wine poured at our Summer Party carries a story.

Behind the vineyards of South Africa's Cape Winelands are farming communities where children have historically had little access to education, health, or nutrition. That's exactly why the Pebbles Project exists — and why we're proud to support them.

Pebbles follows a five-pillar approach: education, health, nutrition, community development, and social protection — designed to make a significant, lasting difference in the lives of children who grow up in challenging circumstances. Today, they support thousands of children aged 0–24, their parents, extended families, and the communities in which they live — most of them on Western Cape wine, fruit, or tea farms.

At the heart of it all is the Pebbles Kitchen — cooking thousands of nutritious meals every day and delivering them to ECD centres across the Western Cape. Because children attending these centres weren't receiving the well-balanced diet essential for optimal growth and learning — and Pebbles was determined to change that.

is a partner charity of Uthando (Love) South Africa, and Sawabona Africa is proud to fundraise for their work.

At our Summer Party on 27 June, Blue Heron Wine Shop hosts a tasting of South African wines — and a contribution from every sale goes directly to Pebbles. All the more reason to raise a glass.
