RIS PTA was founded in 2006. Prior to 2006, the organization was a PTO. The PTO changed to a PTA to utilize the advocacy resources available through the European PTA and the National PTA. Historically, it is this advocacy resource that supported legislation in favor of kindergarten classes, child labor laws and hot and healthy lunches, to name just a few. PTO’s do not have this legislative advocacy support system. RIS PTA is able to use these same advocacy channels today to make improvements in the DoDDS system. Our main objective is to promote the welfare of children in home, school and our community. RIS PTA sponsors numerous programs throughout the year to include: Family Bingo Night, Marathon Club, Reflections, Spelling Bee, Field Day, Enrichment Assemblies, Scholastic News, Scholastic Book Clubs, Millionaire’s Club and Teacher Appreciation. These programs and events are financed by our fundraising efforts: Box Tops, School Photos, Reading Contest, Book Fairs, Original Works art, Student Store, Spirit Wear, Yearbook, and Snack Shack. ROSC, KLSA and RESA are also generous supporters of RIS PTA. European PTA recognized RIS PTA as the European PTA Unit of the Year for 2013-14 & 2023-24.
