The RTA was honored to participate in a profound panel discussion alongside esteemed international institutions, the Abegg Stiftung (Riggisberg) and the Textilmuseum Rosengang (Münster). The event, held as a part of the ongoing Bhutan Festival in Leuk 2025 at the magnificent Leuk Castle, was a vibrant exchange on global textile heritage.
Our team shared the RTA’s mission and vision with a captivated international audience:
Director Mr. Ugyen Tenzin elaborated on the RTA’s origins, our esteemed patronage, and the significance of our architectural home in Thimphu.
Ms. Kinely Wangmo provided insight into our treasured collections, dynamic exhibitions, and the educational programs that bring Bhutanese textiles to the world.
Ms. Tashi Yangki presented attendees on our Weaving Department’s seven key focus areas under the Weaving the Future Program, highlighted by a screening of our Textile Purchase Program video.
The dialogue reinforced the power of international collaboration. We gained invaluable perspectives from Dr. Agnieszka Woś Jucker on the Abegg Foundation's conservation philosophy and from Ms. Helga Jossen on sustaining a regional textile museum. The discussions on patronage, education models, and shared challenges were incredibly enriching.
This event was a significant step in strengthening global ties for the preservation and promotion of textile arts. Thank you to the organizers, our fellow panelists, and everyone who attended.
