Supporting churches and individual partners helped the Langfords exceed their goal, allowing them to continue to focus on ministry in Birkenhead, England. Pray for the Langfords as they continue in a busy season of life and ministry and as they look ahead to long-term residency applications in the fall.

On the Global Strategy prayer calendar for June 26—Germany: As the Church of God in Germany continues to transition the Fritzlar Bible College to Oora Discipleship School, pray that God would speak to the hearts and minds of potential students to sign up for this new program starting in September. Praise God for new opportunities for growth through discipleship in Europe and the Middle East.

This week on Advancing the Mission, we sit down with Zach and Audrey Langford, missionaries serving in Birkenhead, UK. Together, we explore what ministry looks like in a post-Christian culture and how building genuine relationships has become one of the most important ways people encounter Jesus.

Zach and Audrey share what it’s like serving in a culture where many people have little connection to church or faith, and how relational ministry creates opportunities for meaningful conversations and authentic community. We discuss the challenges and beauty of stepping into a different culture, learning to listen well, and trusting God to work in people’s lives in His timing.

One of the key themes of this conversation is the importance of simple obedience — allowing God to do the transforming work while we faithfully invest in relationships with others. We talk about what happens when we step outside of our comfort zones, how God often meets us in unfamiliar places, and why experiencing another culture can deepen both our faith and our understanding of the global Church.

It’s a conversation about trust, relationships, and discovering how God moves when we make ourselves available to Him.

On the Global Strategy prayer calendar for June 1—Europe & Middle East: Give thanks for Kelley & Rhonda Philips, who serve as mentors and advisors to leaders and churches in Egypt and throughout the Europe and Middle East region. Pray for Kelley & Rhonda this week as they lead a retreat for local pastors and their families, that this will be a time of encouragement and rest for these local leaders.

A young woman grew up in Birkenhead. Came through youth group. Went on to university, a huge thing, from this neighborhood. Stayed down south after graduating.

When she was back in town, she and Audrey sat down for tea. They laughed, caught up, talked about the years and the ways life had turned out.

She noticed the updates to the building. Asked about longtime youth leaders now in their 80s and 90s, but whose faithful presence was still bearing fruit. Audrey called them "people of peace" for the community.

Without missing a beat, the young woman looked at Audrey and said:

"You were people of peace for me too."

This is why we stay. This is why we're asking you to help us stay.
