With our 👉 Silabukan project, the Rhino and Forest Fund (RFF) is taking a crucial step in Sabah, : We are restoring and expanding vital wildlife corridors from all the way to the southern coast!

Why this corridor matters:
🐘 Wildlife Passages: Animals like and need vast, connected habitats to move freely and thrive.
🌴 Forest Restoration: Reconnects fragmented landscapes into an unbroken line of protection.
🌊 Canopy to Coast: Safeguards land and marine-adjacent coastal ecosystems.

🐈 One of our camera traps in the Tabin Wildlife Reserve has captured a Sunda clouded leopard in our reforestation area. (DEUTSCH UNTEN)
This sighting shows that restoring former palm oil plantations can create new habitats for endangered wildlife.

The Sunda clouded leopard is one of the rarest big cats in Southeast Asia and depends on large, connected rainforest areas for survival. Our reforestation efforts create important corridors between existing forest patches, allowing species like this to reclaim lost habitats.

💚 Support our work and help restore more forest habitats and secure the survival of threatened species across Borneo.

Mud bath time in Bukit Piton! 🐘💦 (DEUTSCH UNTEN)

Our reforestation area is home to incredible wildlife density - including many endangered Bornean elephants displaced by oil palm plantations. Because this young secondary forest can't provide everything yet, we’re stepping in with Habitat Enrichment! 🌳🌊

By planting fruit trees and creating artificial ponds, we're building a thriving sanctuary. And as our camera traps show: the elephants are loving it! The mud provides the ultimate natural skin protection against the scorching sun and mosquitoes. 📸☀️ Elephant-style sunscreen!

Together, we can restore the rainforest of ! 💚

News from Borneo: The Tabin-Kulamba Wildlife Corridor continues to grow.
(Deutsch unten)

A former 32-hectare oil palm plantation has been acquired to expand this vital wildlife corridor and, since December 2025, has officially become part of the Tabin Wildlife Reserve, giving it the highest level of protection. 💚

🦧 A special thank you to our partners at Borneo Orangutan Survival Germany, who provided the majority of the funding. 🙏

As the corridor continues to expand, fragmented rainforest is being reconnected step by step, creating a continuous forest between two of Borneo's most important wildlife refuges and providing a lifeline for countless rainforest species. 🐒🌳

🌿 A lake for elephants and many other species (DEUTSCH 👇🏾)

The lake, which we established in 2022 in a former plantation, was in the meantime completely overgrown by the invasive water fern Salvinia molesta. It has now been dredged again, and its natural enemy, the Salvinia weevil (Cyrtobagous salviniae), has been introduced for biological control.

Across a total area of 2.2 hectares, the site includes around 1 hectare of open water with several shallow islands.

It provides water and foraging areas for , as well as habitat for fish – creating an important food base for many other species. 🌱🐘

🌿 From Source to Sea 🌊 (DEUTSCH UNTEN)
We are pursuing a clear vision: to restore the Segama River in Borneo from its source all the way to the sea. Along the river, we are bringing forests back, gradually transforming former plantations into rainforest, and reconnecting fragmented habitats.
From the forests of the Heart of Borneo through the Tabin Wildlife Reserve and all the way to the coast, a connected network of protected areas and reserves is taking shape. A green corridor that functions as a whole again—linking wildlife, forests, and water from source to sea.

💪🏽 Big win for Sabah, Borneo 🌿

The government of Sabah has definitively rejected plans for a new highway through our project area in Tabin. A huge victory for the rainforest – and for every species that calls it home.
📍The planned road would have run straight through one of Borneo's most important wildlife corridors – from Sukau on the Kinabatangan River across Tabin to Tambisan on the east coast, as part of the Pan-Borneo Highway project. It would most likely have driven entire species to extinction. 🐈🐸🦤

We fought against this project for years, together with numerous other organisations. This corridor connects 200,000 hectares of key habitat for the survival of Borneo's threatened flora and fauna – and it will now remain intact.
Thank you to everyone who has supported us along the way. Every donation, every shared post – it makes a difference. 💚LINK IN BIO ☝🏽

💚LINK IN BIO ☝🏽
