Summer Team Event at PNO!

There’s nothing like stepping out of the office to bring a team even closer together.
For our event, the German headquarter of PI went to the beautiful Palatinate region (Pfalz) for a day of fresh air, teamwork, and fun.

We hopped on rail bikes (Draisines) and enjoyed the ride together, working as a team and laughing along the way.

After working up an appetite, we wrapped up the day with good food and great conversations.
It was a perfect opportunity to take a break from our daily routines, spend time together, and simply enjoy being a team.

New Technology Doesn’t Always Mean More Complexity

Using just one pair of wires, PROFINET over SPE simplifies the physical infrastructure while keeping the proven PROFINET world intact – including engineering, diagnostics, standardized communication and interoperability.

➡️ 2 wires instead of 4 or 8
➡️ 10 Mbit/s up to 1,000 m
➡️ 100 Mbit/s up to 500 m in the future
➡️ Seamless Ethernet from sensor to cloud

This enables Ethernet communication all the way to sensors and actuators – without leaving the familiar PROFINET world. The PROFINET Cabling & Interconnection Guideline defines cable types, connectors and installation requirements, supporting clarity and interoperability.

PROFINET over SPE remains PROFINET. Less wiring, easier installation, more reach – same proven PROFINET.

Ethernet Performance - Built for the Field!

A recent Endress+Hauser article highlights how Ethernet-APL is being used and tested in the context of BASF projects. It shows how the technology can support end-to-end digital communication in the process industries - with PROFINET providing a standardized and interoperable link between field devices, control systems and asset management applications.

The latest Omdia Market Study 2025 once again confirms PROFINET as the world's number one
Industrial Ethernet protocol, achieving a 27.0% market share. This continued leadership is driven by PI's consistent innovation strategy and the continuous technological advancement of the PI Community.

With the latest PROFINET V2.5 specification, PI has further expanded the technology by
integrating:

✅Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN)
