"Hi Everyone !
Am showing the 2nd part of Britz Friday after next. You don't need to have seen the 1st part last January to get caught up in the gripping plot.
The attachment above will give you all the info.
Hope to see you there! "
BRITZ ( 2 ) UK 2007, 120 mins
Script and Direction: Peter Kosminsky
This two-part serial, originally shown on BBC TV, concerns two British Muslim siblings drawn in radically different directions after the destruction of the Twin Towers in 2001.
Britz ( 1 ), which I showed last month, centred on the high-flying brother, Sohail Wahid ( Riz Ahmed ), an ambitious law undergraduate who joined MI5 and assisted in investigating a terrorist cell.
Britz ( 2 ), which I'll be showing Friday after next, focusses on his equally-talented, headstrong sister, Nasima ( Majinder Virk ), a medical student in Leeds who becomes increasingly angered and alienated by British foreign and domestic policy after witnessing the relentless targeting of her Muslim neighbours and close friends.
The plots of both parts, located in Pakistan, Eastern Europe, London and Leeds, are cleverly* intertwined, provide a revealing examination of British Muslim life under current anti-terrorist legislation and suggest that the laws we think are creating greater security are actually putting us in greater danger instead.
BRITZ ( 2 ) in Room 22 at 19.30 on Friday, 27th February
* I say 'cleverly' because Britz ( 2 ) can be seen independently of Britz ( 1 )
