Ulrich Meyer-Horsch is an award-winning actor and theatre director with three decades of working experience in German state and regional theaters, including Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg, Schauspiel Frankfurt, and Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin. He has worked with Simon McBurney & Complicité, Augusto Boal and Yoshi Oida. Until 2015, he was the associate artistic director of Kreuzgangspiele Feuchtwangen, one of Germany’s biggest summer theatres.

Ulrich holds degrees in Acting, Theater Pedagogy, Theology, and Philosophy, from the universities of Heidelberg, Hamburg, and London (King’s College). He studied with Michael Chekhov’s former students Hurt Hatfield, Deidre Hurst du Prey, Mala Powers and Joanna Merlin as well as with master teachers from Russia and East Asia. In his own approach, he incorporates organic breathing, the playfulness of games, and work with masks. He co-edited the book “Michael Tschechow: Der Schauspieler ist das Theater”, Berlin 2022.

Since 1994, Ulrich has been teaching and directing throughout Europe, Russia, Turkey, Armenia, Lebanon, Egypt, Israel, United Arabic Emirates, Burundi, South Africa, Brazil, Uruguay, Cuba, Mexico, USA, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, and Indonesia. He is a guest lecturer at Yeditepe University Istanbul, and serves on the board of directors of the Michael Chekhov Association (MICHA), New York. He is the co-artistic director of Schule für Schauspiel Hamburg (SfSH), and co-founder of Michael Chekhov Europe (MCE). This fall he will direct the Final Year Production of Intercultural Theatre Institute (ITI) at Esplanade Theatre Studio in Singapore.

GÜLHAN KADIM – Kumbaraci50 Tiyatro, Istanbul, Turkey

Gülhan Kadim is an actress and theatre director with three decades of performance experience. In 1999, she was among the founders of the Altıdan Sonra Tiyatro ensemble, and in 2009 she co-founded Kumbaracı50 Tiyatro with the same collective. She currently serves as K50’s General Coordinator.
Kumbaracı50 is one of the pioneering independent theatres in Beyoğlu, Istanbul. By producing several productions each year, prioritizing contemporary texts and directing practices, and creating space for young artists, it continues to strengthen both its presence and its cultural identity.
Gülhan worked as a scout and curator for Heidelberger Stückemarkt in 2019 and continues to curate “Szene Istanbul” at Theater an der Ruhr in Mülheim, Germany. She served on the board of the Istanbul Theatre Cooperative for two years. She has written two plays. Gülhan manages the shows as well as all the workshops at Kumbaracı50, and she teaches and directs in the theatre’s educational courses.

Yiğit Sertdemir is a playwright, theatre director, and actor, well-known throughout Turkey. In 1999, he was among the founders of the Altıdan Sonra Theatre ensemble, and in 2009 he co-founded Kumbaracı50 Tiyatro with the same collective. He currently serves as the Artistic director of Kumbaracı50.
Kumbaracı50 is one of the pioneering independent theatres in Beyoğlu, Istanbul. By producing several productions each year, prioritizing contemporary texts and directing practices, and creating space for young artists, it continues to strengthen both its presence and its cultural identity.
Yiğit also has been working at the Istanbul Municipality City Theatres since 2002. He has received awards in many categories for nearly fifty theatre productions in which he was part of the creative team. Sixteen of his plays have been published. He also designs the lighting and stage for some of the plays he directs. Yiğit loves to give workshops on play writing, directing, and acting, and he teaches at various universities throughout Turkey.

REMITH RAMESH, The Interlink Theatre, Hyderabad, India

Remith Ramesh is an actor, theatre maker, and Kutiyattam performer, originally from Kerala, South India. Since his early life, he studied Kutiyattam at Kerala Kalamandalam, one of India’s most renowned institutions for classical performing arts. Later he trained in contemporary theatre at the Intercultural Theatre Institute (ITI) in Singapore. His work explores the dialogue between traditional Asian performance practices and the principles of performing arts in the 21st century.
Remith’s artistic journey includes collaborations with international theatre companies and artists such as Ariane Mnouchkine & Théâtre du Soleil, ARTA Paris, Encounter Theatre Australia, Potluck Theatre Japan, Undercurrent Theatre Australia, and Théâtre de la Feuille Hong Kong. Associated with The Interlink Theatre, he continues to develop performances and trainings that explore imagination, physicality, and the actor’s presence through traditional techniques of theatre and dance.

Suzana Nikolić is a full-time professor at the Academy of Dramatic Arts, University of Zagreb. She is the Founder and Artistic Director of Performing Arts StudioChekhov Croatia. Suzana’s organizational and production credits include over a dozen international workshops. Suzana has worked with the Michael Chekhov Technique and taught it professionally for more than 25 years and received the MICHA teaching certificate of completion in 2004. In 2004 and 2019 she edited the Croatian translation of Michael Chekhov’s To the Actor – On the Technique of Acting.
At the Academy of Dramatic Arts, she was a Vice Dean for International Affairs from 2004-2006, Head of the Voice and Speech Department from 2006-2010, and Head of the Acting Department 2016-2018.
Since 2016, Suzana has been an official faculty member of MICHA, USA. She is a co-founder and member of Michael Chekhov Europe and its international Training Programme.
She graduated from the Academy of Dramatic Arts, and was a Fulbright scholar at NYU Tisch School of the Arts, Graduate Acting Program. She is an award-winning actress with credits in theatre performances, features films, television films & series as well as radio, and has had over 25 years of additional acting and voice training abroad.
Suzana has taught the Chekhov Technique in Europe, America, Israel, and Asia. From 2019 to 2022, she has been teaching the Michael Chekhov Acting Technique at the Shanghai Theatre Academy, China. She reflects her experience in China in her book „Future Actors“ which has been published last year.

Jesper Michelsen is the co-founder and director of Glad Teater, a professional theatre for actors with disability in Copenhagen. Glad Teater has a widespread reputation for creating exiting experimental and diverse performances. The company works with devising techniques, creating performances that combine the actors’ personal appearance and special talents with a physical approach to theatre. Recently, it has staged outstanding productions of Woyzeck by Georg Büchner and Psychosis 4.48 by Sarah Kane.
Originally trained as an actor, Jesper has been working as an acting coach for theatre, film and music video, theatre director, dramaturge and producer for the last 20 years.
He studied with MICHA (USA) and has been working with the Michael Chekhov Technique in various productions, workshops and programmes since 2006, exploring Chekhov technique also in combination with Meisner technique and Viewpoints.
Jesper is co-founder of Michael Chekhov Europe and artistic co-director of Michael Chekhov Europe Training, where he teaches as part of MCE’s international faculty since 2008. Beside the practical work, Jesper holds a BA in theatre studies and pedagogic from University of Copenhagen.

TRAINING for PERFORMERS
This annual intercultural encounter brings performance and training approaches from different continents and backgrounds into a practical exchange. You will intensively study the Michael Chekhov Acting Technique, and at the same time you will be in dialogue with other artistic traditions and performance techniques from around the globe.

INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL
There will be various workshop tracks in the morning and afternoon, followed by showcases, festival events and open classes in the evening. The daily training sessions can be combined so you will get a sense of each of the offered forms.
