✨ Meet , aka Juliet Owino - a SHERO in Tech ✨

Watch her clip from the FUTURE FEMALE AFRICA Afro-Futuristic Convention x REEPERBAHN FESTIVAL, curated by Onejiru Arfmann, and get to know the vision behind her work.

From Nairobi to Hamburg to the global stage of Reeperbahn Festival, Juliet is part of a generation of African women shaping the future of technology with purpose.

As Tech Lead at LVCT Health, Juliet is leading the localization of UNICEF’s Oky Period Tracker App for the Kenyan context - making digital health tools more accessible and relevant for young girls.

Beyond her work in tech, she creates spaces for the next generation to step forward: organizing girls-only coding camps and hackathons, where young innovators imagine, build, and present new features for the Oky app.

Juliet is one of the newest members of FUTURE FEMALE AFRICA - an award-winning collective of SHEROs imagining new futures across Africa and the diaspora.

Together, we are activating change.

FUTURE FEMALE AFRICA has entered the global conversation, and the world is paying attention.

FUTURE FEMALE AFRICA has been nominated for UN Live’s Top 10 Culture for Impact 2025 - a recognition that affirms what our work has stood for from the beginning:

• that creativity is strategy,
• that culture is a force for justice,
• and that SHEROS from Africa and the Diaspora are shaping the narratives of the future.

This nomination reflects a movement carried by many from the Afro-Futuristic Conventions to AFFRA (Afro Futuristic Food Renaissance and Awakening), to the Push The Red Button – Activate Change campaign on Menstrual Health and Management (MHH), and to every SHERO who has lent her voice, craft, and conviction.

Thank you, UN Live! And deep gratitude to all who walk with us. This recognition is also yours 💜

We have been shaping together the scene, and now it is being globally seen.

🩸 Invisible Toxins in Menstrual Products 🚨

FFA Founder Onejiru attended a World Health Summit side event “From Evidence to Action: Tackling Women’s Health Risks by Ensuring Menstrual Product Safety” hosted by the Gates Foundation, Siemens Stiftung, GIZ, and the Sanitation and Hygiene Fund (SHF).

Experts shared preliminary Columbia University research revealing the presence of toxic metals in menstrual products, findings that are both groundbreaking and deeply concerning.

A powerful reminder that women’s health demands safer design, stronger policy, and global accountability.

As part of the closing, Onejiru was invited to share our anthem “The Time Is Now” - a powerful creative contribution to this vital global conversation through our – Campaign which we recently launched at our Afro-Futuristic Convention x Reepeebahn Festival 2025.

The discussion, moderated by Katie Gallus, highlighted how science, policy, and advocacy can come together.

It was also inspiring to meet Amdiya Abdul Latiff (Eco-Me Africa), Media Strategist, Nika Maria Moro (Mutterschiff), and to reconnect with SHEROS from our Afro-Futuristic Convention including Naisula Lepariyo & Janina Breitling.

Because menstrual health is not just medical - it’s about justice, dignity & and care, and above all, it's time to act!

Because the time is now. ❤️

Still resonating with the energy of the Afro-Futuristic Convention 2025 ✨

Under the theme Future Frequencies: One Room, One Story, Many Voices, we transformed the Schmidtchen Theater into a space of dialogue, creativity, and change , bringing together artists, innovators, and changemakers from across Africa and the diaspora.

From tech to music, from movement to storytelling, each part of the day carried its own rhythm of empowerment:
💡 TECH × ACCESS TO FINANCE showed how innovation can redefine care and equity through technology and access.
🎤 MUSIC × STAGE explored how artists use their voices and lyrics to challenge stigma and rewrite narratives.
🧵 FASHION × AWARENESS reminded us that fashion can be activism — a statement of dignity, sustainability, and identity.
💃 BODIES IN MOTION turned movement into language, as dance became a form of expression, freedom, and body knowledge.
🎨 THE ART OF STORYTELLING made visible what’s often unseen — translating experiences into sound, image, and emotion.
🎶 And with AFRICAN MUSIC (R)EVOLUTION, we celebrated the power of sound as cultural memory and creative future.
Each conversation, each performance, each connection resonated far beyond the room. Together, we imagined new ways of seeing, creating, and belonging.

💛 To all Sheros, partners, and participants — thank you for making Future Frequencies come alive. The energy continues, the stories expand.
Because The Time Is Now.

In this powerful piece, Onejiru shares why our work at Future Female Africa is about more than conversations — it’s about reimagining systems of equity, care, and visibility.
Through the Afro-Futuristic Convention 2025, we explored how creativity, tech, and collective dialogue can reshape how we talk about Menstrual Health & Hygiene (MHH) — turning silence into solidarity and stigma into strength.

Thank you, Vogue Germany, for amplifying these voices and this movement. 💛
Because the future is now — and it’s female, collective, and unapologetically powerful.

Almost 2 weeks ago, our Sheros premiered “The Time Is Now” at the Reeperbahn Festival Opening Show 2025 – a moment that was more than music. It was a manifesto of empowerment, unity and future visions from Africa and the diaspora. Voices rose together, shifting narratives and reminding us that change begins when we act collectively.

And just two days later, the energy continued at the Afro-Futuristic Convention 2025. Under the motto Future Frequencies: One Room, One Story, Many Voices, we filled the Schmidtchen Theater with music, panels, dance, fashion and storytelling. It became a living space of imagination and togetherness – where justice, creativity and empowerment intertwined, and collective visions turned into action.

💛 We are deeply grateful to all Sheros (, Belinda Abrahams, , Blandine , , Doreen , .breitling , , .ama____ , , , .lepariyo, , , Die P. .platz, , ), Partners (, , , , , , , , & United Sustainability), Team ( ,, , Matthias, .felk, .bansah, Robert , Sven Kaselow, Alexandra Dörrie) and participants who made these days unforgettable. The song is out in the world, the conversations continue – and the frequencies carry on. The Time Is Now.
