Constructlab practicing presence at the WDC Pavilion in Bad Homburg.

This was the WDC Pavilion in Bad Homburg.

We lived and worked in and around the pavilion.

Slow encounters. Loosely programmed, real use, but not accidental.

Alongside this, the Constructlab Residency took place. Two weeks of collective building and making. People joined in to build stools, chairs, and benches using shared modules, found materials, or whatever they brought along.

Objects moved between hands, homes, and public space.

Thanks for having us Bad Homburg!

This week the pavilion opens up in Kelkheim. Come and visit us there!

“Hüttenspiel – Ein Raum der Kinder (A Children‘s Space)” is constructlab’s contribution to Manifesta 16 Ruhr . The installation at St. Anna Church in Gelsenkirchen will be created in May 2026 during a collaborative process with the neighboring primary school Kurt Schumacher Straße and the research group Urban Development, land use planning and design processes at TU Dortmund . The installation will be open every Wednesday from 4:00–5:30 p.m. for the entire duration of Manifesta 16.

Together with local schoolchildren Constructlab is questioning the urban environment surrounding their school building, an environment that is mostly created by and for adults. Based on the idea of the playful building of huts in the woods, they design and assemble collectively modular structures that invite play, rest and small events. By using found materials and simple techniques the structures are reacting to the needs of children and can be easily assembled and dismantled. This way these structures can appear and disappear in various spaces like churches, schools or parks. The process is a hands-on “school of collaboration”: improvisational, imaginative and inclusive, teaching how shared spaces emerge from many hands.

🌳🪑🚧🪚 Dieses Wochenende, 9. und 10. Mai in Wuppertal!

Samstag & Sonntag, 9.-10.5. 2026, jeweils 10:00–18:00 Uhr - Bundesallee 260, Wuppertal

Wir freuen uns auf euch! 💛

This weekend, May 9th and 10th in Wuppertal! A weekend of construction with Constructlab

New benches for the square in front of Pina Bausch Zentrum – As part of the project Urban Wilderness, constructlab is building new benches together with residents of Wuppertal by enhancing and reimagining existing benches on the square. Everyone is invited to design and build together!

Everyone in the neighborhood – young and old – is invited, as well as people from all over Wuppertal. No prior experience is required to participate. It helps if you’ve held a saw or a screwdriver before – or if you’re willing to learn on the spot. Alternatively, participants can also help out with gardening.

Saturday & Sunday, May 9-10 2026, 10 am – 6pm on each of the dates. Bundesallee 260, Wuppertal

We’re looking forward to you! 💛

🔨🚧 Under construction! Some more insights into our construction of the WDC Pavillon - We packed the W.o.W. (Workshop on wheels) and spent two weeks building at .seilerei in Frankfurt! Soon the Pavilion will go on its journey through the Main-Rhein region…

About WDC Pavillon:
As part of the World Design Capital programme, the WDC Pavilion is a modular pavilion that will travel through six cities and communities between mid-April and the end of September 2026: Bad Homburg, Kelkheim, Offenbach, Wiesbaden, the Rheingau, and Darmstadt. Constructlab is developing the pavilion as a flexible, modular structure that can be adapted to different functions. The Pavilion is a temporary structure that creates conditions for gathering in public space. It offers a place where people can engage in conversation, try out new things, and experience design as a societal force. What happens inside depends on the place, the moment, and the people who activate it.

The Pavillon on tour:
Apr. 15 – 26: Bad Homburg, Kurhausgarten
May 06 – 17: Kelkheim, Rathaus Kelkheim
Mai 27 – Jun 14: Offenbach, Pavillon Offenbach
Jun 24 – Jul 12: Wiesbaden, Kochbrunnenplatz
Aug 19 – 30: Rheingau, Garten der Brömserburg
Sep (tba): Darmstadt, Carree Darmstadt

thank you so much .seilerei for the hospitality and for the collaboration!
See you in Hessen!

Let’s meet in ’s future textile recycling center. ✨
This center is at the heart of their cultural association and plays an essential role in raising awareness about waste reduction, recycling, and the repurposing of objects and textiles. Donations from local residents are sorted, selected, repaired, or transformed based on their condition and material potential. It’s mission is closely linked to the local life of the rural area where we are located.
Currently, it is housed in a barn that is unheated, damp, and poorly lit. To better develop the project, the recycling center will move to a new space on the farm that requires space renovation. The association has chosen to organize a participatory workshop involving volunteers and local residents. This approach not only addresses economic constraints but also enhances local engagement and collective ownership of the space. It is within this framework that we have created this 10-day residency from April 9 to April 18, 2026.
The Champ des Possibles association is a cultural association in a rural setting that focuses on
several areas ranging from cultural programming (live performances, concerts) to artist residencies, training through hosting student seminars that confront them with rurality and artisanal skills, and ecological practices with a community workshop for ecological printing using risography, along with a textile recycling center. The association is located on the Mhotte farm in the Bourbonnais bocage at Saint-Menoux.

A big thanks to for graphic design, and the full team of students accompanied by the artists Bureau d’Etude.
