With curator Vicky Hung Yun-Ting’s thoughtful vision and care, all of us at Tamtam ART Taiwan, together with the artists, could only respond by giving our full support.

This exhibition brings together book-based works by 35 artists. Through a site-specific exhibition design, it breaks open the singular framework of reading and allows more people to connect with the ideas the artists hope to share.

我們今年開了一間圖書館，歡迎大家來看書📖

圖書館—閱讀作為藝術的發生
The Library - Reading as the Emergence of Art

*這間房間原本是一間飯店房。
為了短暫停留而存在，也為下一位來客迅速被整理與重置。

*展覽期間它被暫時稱為「圖書館」。
這個命名並不指向一套完整制度，也不試圖複製既有的閱讀秩序。它更像是一種姿態，讓一個以流動為前提的空間，暫時允許停留發生。

*藝術家創作書在閱讀中展開。
它們不是牆面作品的延伸，也不是作品說明。創作書的結構、材質、形式轉換，以及翻閱時的節奏與聲響，都是作品的一部分。書既是作品，也是載體；它承載內容，同時形塑內容。創作書需要被拿起、被閱讀、被接近。它們既保有書本所帶來的私密閱讀經驗，又能在不同讀者之間被傳遞，閱讀因此在親密與共享之間擺盪。

*創作書作為一種微型空間。
視線沿著內容停留、轉折與回返，身體在作品與時間之間緩慢行走，在書中形成屬於自己的路徑。

*房間與閱讀形成一種時間的張力。
飯店房間提醒時間的有限，而閱讀則需要另一種不被催促的時間。床、書桌與燈光仍保留原有功能，同時被閱讀暫時佔用。於是房間在展覽期間成為一個介於停留與閱讀之間的場所。

*這座「圖書館」只存在於展覽期間。
它不追求典藏，也不建立分類，而是一個暫時的容器，承接那些需要慢慢閱讀的創作，以及尚未被命名的觀看經驗。在這裡，閱讀不只是理解文本，也是一種讓藝術發生的方式。

Shifting Terrains is an international series of events that examines the growing social polarization worldwide and its interplay with technologies, digital media, bodies, and spaces. The artists and a team of curators will present their observations on the shifting structures of society and the changing relationship between the individual and communities in an exhibition, Live Concerts, and Friday Cinema. With video and sound works, films, and installations, the international team will embark on a search for the potential for dialog and social transformation.
