Regular visitors of our New Generations - Independent Indian Filmfestivalmight have noticed the distinguished gentleman among our guests. Now he has left us. We dedicate the Indian Vibes radioshow on radio x 91.8 FM to him.

Indian Vibes radioshow on Frankfurt Sun, 27th July 12 to 2 pm (repeated Tue 29th July 9 – 11 am on radiox livestream www.radiox.de and online for seven days.

Der Filmexperte Vijay Kumar, Gründer des Deutschindischen Filmvereins, war ein gern gesehener Gast bei unserem „New Generations - Independent Indian Filmfestival“. Seine Meinung zu den gezeigten Filmen war uns wichtig. Zusammen mit zwei Kollegen gründete Vijay Kumar 1989 den Deutschindischen Filmverein in Frankfurt und präsentierte in den folgenden 20 Jahren mehr als 500 Filme im Kino des Deutschen Filmmuseums. Am 30. Juni 2025 starb Vijay Kumar im Alter von 91 Jahren. Anlässlich des 20. Geburtstags des Deutschindischen Filmvereins war Vijay Kumar zu Gast in der Indian Vibes Radioshow auf radiox Frankfurt. Glücklicherweise haben wir das Gespräch mit ihm archiviert und als Hommage an Vijay Kumar senden wir das Gespräch mit ihm noch mal. R.I.P. Vijay Kumar.

Film expert Vijay Kumar, founder of the Deutschindischer Filmverein, was a dear guest at our “New Generations – Independent Indian Filmfestival” his opinion on the films shown were important to us. Together with two colleagues Vijay Kumar founded the Deutschindische Filmverein in Frankfurt in 1989, presenting more than 500 films at the cinema of the Deutsche Filmmuseum over the next 20 years. On 30 June 2025 Vijay Kumar died at the age of 91 years. On the occasion of the 20th birthday of the Deutschindische Filmverein Vijay Kumar was our guest at the Indian Vibes Radioshow on radiox Frankfurt. Fortunately, we archived this broadcast and as an homage to Vijay Kumar, we will air the talk with him. R.I.P. Vijay Kumar.

Sarker Protick (Bangladesh) Ausstellung in der Crespo Foundation Frankfurt
In der Crespo Foundation sind Fotoarbeiten von Sarker Protick aus Bangladesh zu sehen. Er ist ein Preisträger des After Nature . Ulrike Crespo Photography Prize 2024.
Die künstlerischen Arbeiten der Preisträger:innen blicken auf eine Natur, deren Zustand untrennbar mit den sozialen und politischen
Awngar nennt Sarker Protick seine Arbeit. Er folgt darin den Spuren der Kolonialzeit, genauer gesagt den industriellen Hinterlassenschaften der Kolonialzeit, ganz konkret Eisenbahn und Bergbau.
Sarker Protick. 1986 in Bangladesch geboren, lebt und arbeitet in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Sarker Protick ist Fotograf, Dozent und Kurator. Er hat am South Asian Media Institute – Pathshala in Dhaka studiert, wo er heute als Direktor des internationalen Programms tätig ist. Zudem ist er Co-Kurator des Chobi-Mela-Festivals, des ältesten Fotofestivals in Asien.
Hier noch ein Zitat aus der Jurybegründung
„Das preisgekrönte Projekt von Sarker Protick veranschaulicht die historische Rolle der Kohle als Energiequelle für die erste fossile Energiewirtschaft der Welt und als Auslöser des Klimawandels. Mit einer ebenso poetischen wie präzisen Bildsprache untersucht Sarker Protick die eng verbundenen Geschichten des Anthropozäns, des britischen Imperialismus und des Rohstoffabbaus auf dem indischen Subkontinent.“
