Methodology to assess climate change impacts on SCI in Shebenik National Park!

As climate change continues to emerge as one of the most significant threats to biodiversity worldwide, mountain ecosystems are among the most vulnerable. Even modest changes in temperature and precipitation patterns can profoundly affect habitats, ecosystem functions, and the survival of rare and endemic species. Shebenik NP, one of ’s most important biodiversity hotspots, is home to numerous endemic species and Species of Community Interest (SCI).

The 8th European Congress of Conservation Biology (ECCB) took place in Leiden on the 6-10 of July. The event attracted 850 participants from 25 countries.

Maria Petridou gave a presentation on the work being done under ‘PONT Connect’ and specifically the PONT grant to Pindos Perivallontiki “Enhancing connectivity of Balkan chamois in North-Western Greece”. Restoring Pelister’s Ancient Molika Forest after Severe Storm Damage!

The winter of 2025 left a profound mark on one of ’s most valuable natural treasures – the ancient Molika pine forests of Pelister NP. Heavy snowfall and strong winds caused extensive damage across approximately 100 hectares of forest, bringing down an estimated 1,000 to 1,100 trees and significantly altering the appearance of some of ’s oldest forest stands.

Lessons in Stewardship: Perspectives from the Polis-Valamarë-Rungajë-Moravë-Gramoz Ecological Corridor!

In 2023, EcoAlbania embarked on a multi-year initiative to address a complex environmental challenge: the preservation of the Polis-Valamarë-Rungajë-Moravë-Gramoz ecological corridor. Supported by the Prespa Ohrid Nature Trust (PONT), the ISCCA Project was designed with a specific objective: to preserve and enhance the ecological connectivity of this landscape through a sustainable and participatory governance approach.
