Welcome everybody,
this page is based on the Homepage of the Ligmincha Germany association, which presents the Bön Buddhist Teachings and activities of the Tibetan meditation master Geshe Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche. Geshe Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche, director and resident lama of Ligmincha Institute in Charlottesville, Virginia, USA, is one of the first lamas bringing th
e Bön teachings in a authentic Way to the West. Recognized as a reincarnation of the famous master Khyung Tu Rinpoche, a great meditator and scholar, he practised from the age of 13 under the guidance of masters from both the Bön and Buddhist schools, including His Holiness Lungtok Tenpaì Nyima, Lopon Sangye Tenzin Rinpoche, and Yongzin (Lopon) Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche. In 1987, His Holiness the Dalai Lama appointed Tenzin Rinpoche to the Assembly of Deputies of the Tibetan Government in Exile, as the official representative of the Bön religion. He is one of only a few masters of the Bön tradition presently living in the West and qualified to give teachings and transmissions. In 1992 Tenzin Rinpoche founded Ligmincha Institute in order to preserve and introduce to the West the religious teachings and art of the ancient Tibetan Bön Buddhist tradition. It incorporates teachings and practices that address all parts of life, including our relationships with the elemental qualities of nature; our ethical and moral behavior; the development of love, compassion, joy, and equanimaty; and teachings of "the Great Perfection" . An accomplished scholar in the Bön Buddhist textual traditions of philosophy, exegesis, and debate, Tenzin Rinpoche completed a rigorous 11-year course of traditional studies at the Bönpo Monastic Center (Menri Monastery) in India, where he received his doctorate, or geshe, degree. Rinpoche has lived and taught in the West for many years. Fluent in English, Rinpoche is known for his clear, lively and insightful teaching style and his ability to make profound Tibetan practices accessible to the western student. Tenzin Rinpoche is also an artist and uses calligraphy as a visual support for the spiritual practices he teaches. He is a highly respected and beloved teacher to students throughout the United States, Mexico, and Europe. In addition to Ligmincha Institute and its affiliates in the United States, Rinpoche has established centers in Mexico, Poland, the Netherlands, Italy, and Russia. As a result of his efforts, there are Bön practice groups meeting in more than a dozen countries worldwide. Since 1990 Tenzin Rinpoche regularly visits his students in Europe. His clear and heart-warming manner of teaching in combination wih his profound books constitute a very special and open path to his tradition of wisdom.
