What happens when environmental education, recycling and new opportunities for young people come together? Together with Discover Airlines and our local partner Ozeankind in Zanzibar, we’re bringing exactly that to life: the Ocean Kind Education Center 🌊

Here’s what it’s all about:
📝 Workshops on environmental and recycling topics
🌿 Hands-on training for green careers
♻️ A “Swop Shop” where collected plastic waste can be exchanged for everyday goods
🤝 A learning and community space open to everyone

Our goal is to empower young people to actively shape their environment while opening up new opportunities for their future.

We’re incredibly excited about the launch and to build something together with the local community that creates lasting impact 🌍💫

Creative ideas that make an impact ✨

At Munich Airport, colleagues from Lufthansa Airlines Brand Management turned an internal idea into real support for help alliance:
by selling amenity kits from the past 20 years - including unique sample pieces.

Small gesture. Lasting impact.

What happens to old aircraft parts?
With the online auction of the volunteering initiative “Merchandise4Good”, they get a second life - and create social impact at the same time.
Volunteers of the of .careers are currently auctioning unique aviation treasures: from aircraft seats and airport signs to unique aircraft components, like wing fences.
But it’s about more than rare finds:
👉 The proceeds support our help alliance projects.
This year, the auction benefits the following projects:
🌍“Waste for Hope” (Philippines) - combining environmental education, income opportunities and disaster resilience .
📍“Bridges to Independence” (Hamburg) - creating new perspectives for young adults with multiple disabilities and their families.

Where young voices learn to shape democracy 🤝✨
In Hamburg, a new help alliance project is creating space for young people to experience what democracy really means.
The help alliance project “Democracy Talents”, financed through a donation from and implemented by brings learning to life: through workshops, dialogue and real engagement, students explore how to form their own opinions in a complex digital world.
They don’t just learn about democracy - they experience it, question it and actively shape it.
Because strong societies start with people who feel heard, informed and ready to take part. 🌍

Where sustainability becomes daily life 🌍🔥

In Uganda, the help alliance project "Green Future" is turning schools into places of real change.

Environmental education is combined with a major step forward: energy‑efficient eco‑stoves.
They use up to 60% less firewood, reduce harmful smoke and make daily cooking at school cleaner and healthier.

For students, sustainability is no longer abstract.
They experience how smart solutions improve everyday life - and learn that protecting their future starts with practical action.

This is how responsibility grows. And lasting change begins. 🌱

Walls full of stories. ✋✨

At the help alliance Sunshine Project in New Delhi, something simple turned into something much bigger.

Since 2022, visitors have been leaving their handprints on the wall - many of them Lufthansa Group crews stopping by during their layovers. What started as one wall has slowly grown across several.

Each handprint stands for time shared, conversations, and moments with the children.

A small gesture - that keeps growing, one visit at a time. ✋

Earth Day 2026 🌍

The help alliance project “Reefs Renew” in the Maldives shows how closely environmental protection and human life are connected.

On the island of Magoodhoo, children and families take part in environmental education and learn about the marine ecosystems that surround them. At Anantara, degraded coral reefs are being restored using innovative 3D-printed structures, helping marine life slowly return.

These reefs are more than nature - they protect coastlines, support livelihoods and sustain entire communities.

Earth Day is a reminder that real change begins when we reconnect with what sustains us. 🌊

Some moments stay with you. ✨
This week, we welcomed the choir from our “Houses of Hope” project in Cape Town to Germany – as part of the Lufthansa 100-year anniversary and a very special visit for all of us at help alliance.
They performed at our OnSite Event in and also took the stage at the management event in Frankfurt – and truly left a lasting impression. Their energy and presence were something special to experience together.
Alongside the performances, they got a chance to see a bit more behind the scenes, explore new places and spend time with colleagues from across the Lufthansa Group.
A week we won’t forget anytime soon. 🌍✨

Exploring what lives just beneath the surface. 🐟🎨

In Punta Arena (Colombia) students are taking a closer look at the biodiversity around them - starting with the fish in their own waters.

As part of the help alliance project “Perspectives & Tourism”, 8th grade students explored local fish species, learning about their characteristics and ecological role before bringing them to life through watercolours and collages.

By connecting scientific knowledge with local perspectives and creativity, learning becomes something they can see, shape, and relate to in their everyday lives. ✨

Access and equity in education matter. 📚🌍

The "UNESCO Global Education Monitoring Report 2026: Access and equity - Countdown to 2030" highlights that millions of children worldwide still face barriers to inclusive, quality education - and that equity must be central in efforts to reach SDG 4 by 2030.

In Pattaya (Thailand), our help alliance Learning Center gives street‑connected children exactly that - a safe place to learn, play, and grow. Here, children who have no access to formal school get daily lessons in reading, writing and basic skills, meals, health care and support to process trauma.

Education is not just about reaching a classroom - it’s about creating the conditions where every child can belong, learn and develop. ✨
