Urdu, a language of love, of poetry, and respect. Yesterday’s beautiful production by Urdu Radio Deutschland showed how this language can bring people together across cultures and borders. Seeing Indian and Pakistani artists share the stage in Germany was a wonderful reminder that language has the power to unite us.

Keeping Urdu alive means preserving a shared cultural heritage that connects hearts across borders.

All deep water wells and complete and being utilised by all these beautiful people in the heat and sands of Tharparkar. They are ever so grateful and seeing the smiles and laughter on the faces of young and old, makes our hearts melt.

A wonderful afternoon spent with good people and great food!
A huge THANK YOU to for your incredible efforts today and the scrumptious food and tea. The spices, the aroma, the atmosphere, everything was just amazing. The rose 🌹 water flavours, the raisins in the rice and the Zimt in the firni 😋👌🏼🩷👏🏼😍🇮🇷🥘

'Firni', the name of the rice and milk dessert which is shared by many. We have Firni in Urdu and Punjabi and perhaps in many other languages too! It's always beautiful when the are similarities, and also in things we are not familiar with too. 🥰

Many newcomers who come to Germany find themselves feeling alone and down. We know this from the many posts we receive in RDD.
Please try and join your locals in different activities, and look into joining Vereine and clubs. There are many many kind and welcoming people, like the ones we met today. This was a beautiful example of inclusion and learning about one another.

Where is home? Which city, or place FIRST comes to your heart and mind?

For many migrants, home is the place they left behind and the place they built a life in. For their children, home can be more complicated: the country they were born in, the culture they grew up with, and the stories they inherited from their parents.

Maybe home isn't always a place. Maybe it's more than a place on a map. It's memories, language, family, belonging, and sometimes the feeling of standing between two worlds, connected to both.

An 18-year-old domestic worker in Lahore allegedly suffered repeated sexual assault by her employer’s son and a driver. Before her death, she recorded statements describing the abuse. She later died following complications linked to the case. Murder charges were subsequently added to the investigation.

❗But will she get justice?

Many people in Germany, including within South Asian and other diaspora communities, will recognise that domestic work by children or very young people is not an abstract issue. Some may have seen, in their countries of origin, even within their family circles.

Domestic workers are among the most invisible workers in society. Often excluded from labour protections, many are vulnerable to physical abuse, sexual violence, wage theft, confinement, and exploitation.

Human Rights Watch has documented these patterns across multiple countries, showing that they are not isolated incidents, but part of a broader systemic problem.

Of particular concern is the number of children and adolescents employed as domestic workers. Many enter domestic work due to poverty, family hardship, or limited access to education.

Working behind closed doors, they may be isolated from their families, denied schooling, subjected to excessive working hours, and exposed to abuse with little opportunity to seek help.

Children should be in school, learning and developing in safe environments, not carrying the burden of adult responsibilities or facing exploitation in private homes.

A beautiful update for everyone today. Home huts 🛖🛖🛖 project is complete.

These homes have been constructed with weather appropriate materials and solar power installed for lights and sockets. The families have moved in and are extremely thankful and overjoyed 🥰

Thank you to everyone who took part. All those that had donated for a complete hut to be built with their chosen name shield, will be receiving all the pics in the next days.

Performances at the Culture
Carnival 🇩🇪 in the city of Berlin had everyone vibing along to tunes from all over the world. Many South Asian countries took part in showcasing their heritage and enjoying the sun! 🌞
