RDD charity update ❗

Remember the wonderful RDD fundraiser to bring a happiness to the children of SOS Children’s Village Islamabad? Here is another update regarding the funds and how together we were able to achieve even more smiles.🩷

RDD successfully achieved its fundraising target for a special fun day for the SOS orphanage, filled with games, food, entertainment and activities. Unfortunately, due to the tremendous rain, some of the planned activities could not take place. Alternative activities were arranged so that the children could still enjoy a wonderful and memorable day. 🎡🎈🥳

As some of the funds raised were therefore not required for the event, those donations continued to make a difference via another project by the same team we were supporting...

The remaining funds helped so many families and children in a free medical camp in Topla, Abbottabad, Pakistan, carried out in collaboration with , and . 🩺❤️

More than 1,000 people were able to receive medical check-ups, advice and basic medicines. For many of the people who attended, accessing medical care is not always easy or affordable. Many simply live with pain or ignore health concerns because they cannot afford to see a doctor.

This medical camp gave them an opportunity to have someone listen to their concerns, check them, provide medical advice and, where needed, offer basic medication and that too completely free of charge.

This is exactly why every donation matters. ❤️

Another RDD Charity Run Update 🩷

Our specially adapted rickshaw has now been handed over! 🛺🎉💗

This is far more than just a vehicle. It is a new beginning for a hardworking individual with a disability whose entire family depends on him.
The rickshaw has been specially adapted to meet his needs, allowing him to work safely, earn a regular income and support his loved ones with greater independence and dignity. We hope this opportunity will provide long term financial stability for his family and a brighter future for them all.

This initiative has been made possible by Rise RDD e.V. with the incredible support of our amazing members and well wishers. Every donation, every share and every word of encouragement has helped change a family's life.

A huge thank you to our RDD Pakistan Operations Head, of , for your outstanding dedication and hard work in making projects like this happen. As always, you are a huge credit to RDD and we are so grateful for everything you do.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to the team of , a disability inclusion initiative dedicated to promoting independence, accessibility and equal opportunities for people with disabilities. We are honoured to share the vision of empowering individuals through practical, life changing support.

🇩🇪 Should shops in Germany open on Sundays? 🛒🏪🛍️

The debate is back!
Some believe Sunday openings would bring more flexibility for shoppers, support town centres and bring Germany closer to other European countries.

Others believe Sunday should remain a protected day for rest, family time and social connection.

At the moment, nothing has changed. Germany’s Sunday trading laws remain in place. This is currently a political proposal and public debate.

UPDATE! UGANDA Deep Water Well complete ✅💯😍💦🫶🏻

We thank everyone who generously donated towards this project during our RDD Charity Drive 2026.

With the extreme heat 🥵🌡️ we have been experiencing in Germany over the last few days, with temperatures reaching up to 40°C today 🔥, it really makes one reflect on how fortunate and privileged we are.

BURKINIS in German Freibäder (outdoor open air swimming pools).

📌 Have you or someone you know, ever been affected by this?

Lately, as temperatures soar, outdoor swimming pools have become the place to be for families, children, and anyone trying to escape the heat. Affordable, social, and a big part of summer life in Germany.

But alongside the sunshine, a familiar debate has returned to social media: the burkini.

Scroll through any comment section and you will see it split in two. Some calling for restrictions or even bans. Others defending the right to simply exist in a public space without judgement.

So let’s be clear on what we are actually talking about. A burkini is swimwear designed for modest coverage. For some it is religious. For others it is about comfort, sun protection, or medical reasons. It is made from standard swimwear materials and is fully suitable for pools.

Which leads to the real question.
Why is this still controversial in 2026? ❗

Outdoor swimming pools are meant to be shared spaces. A place for families, children learning to swim, and people enjoying summer together. Not a place where clothing becomes a reason for exclusion or hate.

At the same time, some people say they feel uncomfortable or unsure. That is part of the conversation too. But the question is how we handle that feeling. Do we turn it into restrictions or do we build understanding in shared spaces?

Because at the end of the day, this is not just about swimwear.

It is about who feels welcome in public spaces.
And who gets to decide that.
