As we wrap up the year, we’re overjoyed to share some wonderful news about Lwandile, a young man whose journey you’ve been a part of!

Thanks to your support, Lwandile excelled at Lawhill Maritime Centre and has now been awarded the prestigious SATS General Botha Old Boys’ Association Bursary! Out of five applicants, he was the only one selected for a three-year Nautical Studies program at CPUT, with full board and allowance.

Lwandile has also been thriving in sailing and motorboat training, showing incredible determination and talent.

We’re so proud of his achievements and grateful to all of you for making this possible through your contributions to Amanzi Wethu. Your kindness changes lives.

Graeme Hillary is an experienced expedition guide who has made a successful transition from the yachting industry to the cruise ship industry. He is known for his adventurous spirit and love for the great outdoors, which has led him to explore some of the most remote and beautiful places on earth.
Graeme and I met in Palma, Spain, in 2017 when we both started yachting. Since then, you have maintained a close relationship, and he was a guest on Amanzi Wethu podcast, where he shared his knowledge and experience about the transition from yachting to expedition guiding.
As an expedition guide, Graeme now works on cruise ships that sail to remote locations around the world , where he leads passengers on exciting adventures and wildlife expeditions. He is known for his expertise in the field, as well as his ability to connect with people and make every journey a memorable one.
Graeme's passion for the outdoors is evident in everything he does, and he has inspired many with his adventurous spirit and love for exploration. His insights and expertise are highly valued in the industry, and he continues to make a difference in the lives of those he meets on his journeys.

Have you ever thought of rowing the Atlantic Ocean or even had the thought of how it’s all done? Well our next guest is Kyle Miller, a brother from Cape Town clocking some epic nautical miles as a skipper on the support vessel for the Talisker Atlantic Ocean Rowing Challenge. Lots to learn from this episode! As we all know becoming a skipper does not happen over night. Kyle explains his journey to us and how he got to where he is today. On our first chat is with Lutho Thomas, he tells us about how he came across his bursary to study at Law Hill Maritime Center in Cape Town, how he was introduced into sailing and how his new job is going as a Deckhand on a Super yacht and being based in Palma de Mallorca (Spain)!! Lutho also shares some some information on how one can become a successful deckhand and make a great career in the industry. After all the help he has received along the way he has started a foundation called “Lutho Thomas Foundation” to help the less fortunate back in South Africa that are seeking help with yachting courses!
