Bliadhna Theàrlaich, Charles' Year Living History Group Members of the group portray people who were involved in any way during this time period.

We are a living history group based in Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany re-enacting all participants in 'Bliadhna Thearlaich' (Charles Year) from 1745-46, from civilians to soldiers. We are a living history group based in Belgium the Netherlands, and Germany re-enacting the time known in Scots Gaelic as Bliadhna Theàrlaich (Charles’ Year). ‘Charles’ relates to Charles Edward Stuart also known

as Bonnie Prince Charlie. The year in question runs from the middle of 1745 to the middle of 1746, and covers the time Charles spent in the British Isles during what became known as the ’45 Jacobite Uprising. Current and new members have a wide scope of possibility for characters which can be portrayed including: Scottish Highlanders, Lowlanders, English jacobites, Royal Eccossois, Irish troops in French Service , British redcoats, Scots and English camp followers and civilians.

The re-enactment season is well and truly underway again🙂Last week the group was in Alphen aan den Rijn in the Netherlands at the Scottish weekend in the Archeon. There were a number of photographers present at the event, here is a small compilation of some of the photos shared on FB.
