📱Algorithms, fake news, endless feeds: How can young people engage with digital media in a critical and responsible way?

On October 15, 2026, education professionals explored “Media Literacy, Misinformation & Digital Citizenship” at our second “Youth4Change” online Training of Trainers. Organized by , , and , with support from facilitators from various partner organizations. 🎓

Through hands-on exercises and discussions, participants explored:
🔎 Recognizing misinformation and manipulation
⚙️ Understanding the influence of algorithms
🌐 Strengthening digital citizenship and democratic participation
Participants tested the Youth4Change methodology for political education and took away practical methods to use with their youth groups. 💡

Am 15. Oktober 2026 beschäftigten sich pädagogische Fachkräfte bei unserem zweiten „Youth4Change“-Online-Training of Trainers mit „Media Literacy, Misinformation & Digital Citizenship“. 🎓

In praktischen Übungen und im Austausch erkundeten die Teilnehmenden, wie sie:
🔎 Falschinformationen und Manipulation erkennen
⚙️ Den Einfluss von Algorithmen verstehen
🌐 Digitale Bürgerschaft und demokratische Teilhabe stärken können

Die Teilnehmenden testeten die Youth4Change-Methodik zur politischen Bildung und nahmen praktische Methoden für ihre Jugendgruppen mit. 💡

ECHOES IN INK 2026 – Die Kunst des Erinnerns | The Art of Remembrance
Workshop an der 64. Oberschule Laubegast „Hans Grundig“

Am Montag, dem 28. September, hat das JKPeV-Team mit Lea Heeren und Jakob Kade einen Projekttag mit einer 9. Klasse der 64. Oberschule Laubegast „Hans Grundig“ verbracht – und damit unsere Workshopreihe abgeschlossen! Mit Methoden der non-formalen Bildung haben sich die Schüler*innen mit großer Neugier, Offenheit und Ernsthaftigkeit mit jüdischer Geschichte und jüdischem Leben auseinandergesetzt.
Inspiriert von den jüdischen Geschichten und Lebenserfahrungen, die sie entdeckt haben, lernten sie Techniken des Comics und der Graphic Novel kennen – von Storytelling und Figuren bis zu Panels und Bildkomposition – und begannen, ihre eigenen Graphic Novels zu gestalten.
✏️ Besonders beeindruckt hat uns, wie unterschiedlich und kreativ alle gearbeitet haben! Jede Gruppe hat ihren ganz eigenen Weg gefunden, eine Geschichte zu erzählen – die Ergebnisse zeigen eine wunderbare Vielfalt an Ideen, Stilen und Perspektiven.
Herzlichen Dank an die Klasse für ihr großartiges Engagement sowie an die Lehrkräfte und die 64. Oberschule für die tolle Zusammenarbeit und ihr Vertrauen.

🎨 Mit dem sachsenweiten Jugendwettbewerb für Graphic Novels, Comics & Visual Storytelling gibt ECHOES IN INK 2026 jungen Menschen die Möglichkeit, ihre eigenen Perspektiven auf Geschichte, Erinnerung, Demokratie und gesellschaftliche Verantwortung kreativ auszudrücken und sichtbar zu machen.

🏆 Frist verlängert! Schüler*innen der Klassenstufen 6–12 können jetzt bis zum 25. Oktober 2026 eigene Arbeiten einreichen. Ausgewählte Beiträge werden im November 2026 in Dresden ausgestellt und in der digitalen Graphic-Novel-Collection veröffentlicht.

On Monday, 28 September, the JKPeV team, Lea Heeren and Jakob Kade, spent a project day with a 9th-grade class at 64. Oberschule Laubegast „Hans Grundig“ – and with it, we wrapped up our workshop series! Using non-formal learning methods, the students explored Jewish history and Jewish life with curiosity, openness, and seriousness.
Inspired by the Jewish stories and life experiences they discovered, they learned comic and graphic novel techniques – from storytelling and characters to panels and visual composition – and started designing their own graphic novels.
✏️ What impressed us most: how differently and creatively everyone worked! Every group found its very own way of telling a story, and the results show a wonderful variety of ideas, styles, and perspectives.
Many thanks to the class for their great commitment, and to the teachers and the 64. Oberschule for the excellent collaboration and their trust.

🎨 With the Saxony-wide youth competition for graphic novels, comics & visual storytelling, ECHOES IN INK 2026 gives young people the chance to express their own perspectives on history, remembrance, democracy, and social responsibility creatively and make them visible.

🏆 Deadline extended! Students in grades 6–12 can now submit their work until 25 October 2026. Selected entries will be exhibited in Dresden in November 2026 and published in the digital Graphic Novel Collection.

On November 19 we will understand the past and practice the present at our first international Cities of Belonging Event! 🌍

But what does that mean? And what can you expect?
Participants and municipal representatives from different European cities will come together in Dresden:

Together, we’ll explore, create and exchange ideas around belonging, participation, solidarity, inclusion, accessibility, and the role of culture and public space.
Our starting point will be the commemoration of the Fall of the Berlin Wall. From there, we’ll explore how historical events and social transformations have shaped our cities and ask how we can work towards more inclusive and accessible urban spaces today.
You’ll have the opportunity to share experiences, exchange ideas and imagine the ideal city of the future together with people from across Europe.
✨ What does a City of Belonging look like to you?

Am 19. November werden wir bei unserer ersten internationalen „Cities of Belonging“-Veranstaltung die Vergangenheit verstehen und die Gegenwart gestalten! 🌍

Aber was bedeutet das? Und was erwartet euch?

Teilnehmende und Vertreter*innen aus europäischen Städten kommen in Dresden zusammen:

Wir werden gemeinsam Ideen zu den Themen Zugehörigkeit, Teilnahme, Solidarität, Inklusion, Zugänglichkeit sowie der Rolle von Kultur und urbanen Räumen erarbeiten, austauschen und kreativ umsetzen.
Unser Ausgangspunkt ist das Gedenken an den Fall der Berliner Mauer. Von dort aus werden wir untersuchen, wie historische Ereignisse und gesellschaftliche Veränderungen unsere Städte geprägt haben, und uns fragen, wie wir heute auf inklusivere und barrierefreiere städtische Räume hinarbeiten können.
Du hast die Möglichkeit Erfahrungen auszutauschen, Ideen zu diskutieren und gemeinsam mit Menschen aus ganz Europa die ideale Stadt der Zukunft zu entwerfen.

🗳️ How can young people move from participation to real influence?

On 13 October 2026, Youth4Change held its first Online Training of Trainers on Empowering Youth Participation & Democratic Engagement, organised by JKPeV, the University of Almeria, and OBESSU. 🎓

Participants explored four practical methods:
🔍 Democracy in Practice: Rights and responsibilities.
🏛️ Build Your Ideal Democracy: Democracy and fake news.
🗳️ One-Minute Town Hall: Deciding how to spend €100,000.
🪜 From Tokenism to Meaningful Participation: Beyond symbolic involvement.

💡 Participants tested methods to use with their own youth groups.
