The European Environment Agency counts cigarette butts as the most common litter on Europe’s beaches. Number one on the Mediterranean. Toxic chemicals in the sand, in the water, under your feet.

There’s a way to consume ni****ne here that leaves nothing behind. No smoke. No smell. No litter. And Spain wants to regulate it into the ground.

The question for Madrid: if this is about protecting people, why target the product that bothers no one?
