The Dortmund student union’s (“Studentenwerk”) 15 student housing facilities can accommodate up to 2,671 students in apartments or single rooms. These accommodations are not only low rent, but also facilitate a broad range of social contacts and leisure time activities—all of which make studying easier while giving students a rich social experience. A number of houses are equipped with handicapped

accessible rooms and apartments. The rental fees can be found on the websites of the individual facilities. You will find information on the regulations regarding eligibility for student housing and the allocation of rooms there. At each facility, tenant interests are represented by a self-governing body (“Heimrat”), which collaborates with the property management and the student union.
