Wyndham Community Football Unites multicultural communities and raises funds for children ahead of Ramadan.
In Melbourne, Victoria, Wyndham Community Football Inc. successfully hosted a vibrant 11-a-side soccer match at Arndell Park Community Centre, bringing together Melbourne’s multicultural community for an evening of sport, culture and charitable giving.
More than a friendly game, the event became a celebration of unity and generosity in the lead-up to the holy month of Ramadan.
Families, community leaders, football enthusiasts, and supporters gathered under the lights to enjoy traditional Bangladeshi food, connect, and cheer on the players while raising funds to provide meals to underprivileged children during the upcoming fasting period.
The strong attendance and enthusiastic participation highlighted the power of sport to create meaningful social connections while promoting mental wellbeing and physical health across the Wyndham community.
The organisers were honoured by the presence Deputy Mayor, Cr Preet Singh - Wyndham City Council, of Bemin Ward, Cr Jennie Barrera, of Heathdale Ward; Councillor Robert Szatkowski, of Brinbeal Ward; Anwar Hossian, President of Wyndham Community Football Inc.; Mamun Haque, Managing Director of SkinTech Lab Australia; Mohamed Risvi, Executive Committee Member of Sri Lanka Football Federation and AFC match Commissioner, Danielle Diez, Service lead, Youth Services, Majed Ul Huq, event coordinator and Imran Khan, founder of Born To Smile.
Their attendance reflected the importance of local leadership in supporting initiatives that champion inclusion, cultural celebration and community development.
Beyond the excitement of the match, the event helped uplift multicultural community spirit, strengthen cross-cultural engagement, encourage active lifestyles, and empower young people through sport.
