Let a million seeds blossom! we are building a global artistic and civic movement for seed sovereignty, biodiversity, and cultural regeneration.

On the International Seeds Day 26th of April 2026, we from Lebende Samen Living Seeds e.V. have planted a seed that will sprout in many communities worldwide: We have teamed up with t to raise awareness for the importance of traditional and cultural seeds through community building and art. As ast and artists do not merely reproduce the visible; they make things visible (Paul Klee).

Why? Across the world, seeds are quietly disappearing from living relationships. Seed systems have become increasingly centralized, regulated, and commercialized. Many seeds are stored in large institutional seed banks, protected yet often disconnected from the ecosystems, communities, and cultural practices that once sustained them. Knowledge, tradition and culture connected with seeds are being lost. Seeds become products, rather than living carriers of memory, adaptation, and future possibilities. A seed that is not planted, shared, and regenerated is not truly alive in culture.

Our joined work will address food sovereignty and support seed guardianship, wild seed biodiversity and the creation of community seed banks and nurseries that keep seeds in living circulation inside communities.

This framework is open for collaboration with scientific and institutional partners, farmers and seed stewards, grassroots and community networks, artists and cultural practitioners, public figures and communicators.

Eternal Forest and Living Seeds e.V. will closely work together and support this movement by bringing together artists, seed communities, engaged friends and families to inspire co-creation of shared participatory experiences around the world, inviting seeds as living voices - weaving traditional knowledge and contemporary science, memory and the future imagination. We want to make it visible that seeds are alive and an essential component of our health - physically and spiritually.

Join uns on our journey!

This we highlight .recikliranoimanje, a women-founded community seed bank in Croatia that collects, preserves, and shares traditional vegetable varieties. The initiative works with farmers, gardeners, and local communities to protect biodiversity, exchange knowledge, and keep locally adapted seeds alive for future generations.

have long been key guardians of seeds and agricultural knowledge, making projects like this vital for resilient food systems and food sovereignty.
